Haven't seen you in a while Bill and it is good to see you featured again. Some good points were stressed and let's up that at least for us in the south, with our "snowbirds" arriving, the coming months will be busy ones and that we will be able to make some money. The people in the cold north who tell me they are heading into their slow season have my sympathy.

Average Mortgage Interest Rates Continue to Inch Higher Based on Mixed Economic Reports - 10/28/10 09:20 PM
Today, 10/28/10,  Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.26% (4.24% in the southeast), up from 4.21% a week ago. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.66%,up from 3.64% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 5.03%. 
For two weeks in a row, interest rates have edged upward. Did we reach the bottom a couple of weeks ago or is this just a tiny blip on the financial radar screen? Pays to keep your eyes on how this trend continues or changes course.

Speeders in Zephyrhills, Florida - Be Warned! The Police Are Being Extra Vigilant This Year! - 10/27/10 05:50 PM
A couple of days ago I was on my way to work. I take North Avenue and continue on to Geiger Road, then left on Eiland Boulevard. Just as I had passed the Post Office, I saw a car pulled over by one of our city police officers. Then when I got to Eiland, I looked to my right and a different officer had pulled over yet another car. In both cases, it was most likely for going over the posted speed limit.

Freddie Mac: Average Fixed Rate Mortgage Rates Edge Upward JUST a Tad! - 10/21/10 07:31 PM
Today, 10/21/10,  Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.21% (4.30% in the southeast), up from 4.19% a week ago. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.64%,up from 3.62% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 5.00%. 
While the Producer Price Index went up more than most experts had anticipated, the Consumer Price Index went down more than had been expected. These mixed signals helped to keep interest rates from changing drastically.

Hard to believe it, but early voting has already begun here. This year we are electing a Governor, a US Senator, and other public officials who will serve locally, at the state capital and in Washington. Here in Florida we will also be voting on 6 state consitutional amendments and two referendums. The amendments can be confusing, so please read them carefully and be sure you understand what they mean, and then vote for or against them.

And if the tables were turned and the sellers were the buyers they would reject most homes for the very reasons that their home will be rejected. Yet they will refuse to put in a little (in most cases) effort, time, and cash to make their home stand out from the crowd. And of course, pricing it to be competitive. Thus selling more quickly and for a better price. Most just don't get it. It is so refreshing when one comes along that does.

Today, 10/7/10,  Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.27% (4.33% in the southeast), down from 4.32% a week ago. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.72%, down from 3.75% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.87%. 
At some point both interest rates and housing prices will start to climb. Often we hesitate to recommend service providers unless we are REALLY sure about their abilities and performance. And even then mistakes can be made and a customer can quickly blame you. On most of my web pages where I list some financing providers, inspectors, etc. that buyers might consider, I also suggest they speak with friends, relatives, neighbors for recommendations.
I also tell them it never hurts to check in with the Better Business Bureau to see what they have to say. If a company has a ton of complaints, perhaps they should look elsewhere. For example I just checked on one of … (3 comments)
