Today, 2/23/2012, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.95%, up from 3.87% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.19%, up from 3.16% from last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.95%! At some point interest rates had to start rising again, and this week they did! Not significantly, but buyers should take note and watch further movements VERY carefully. This message is for those of you who purchased and occupied a home during 2011 that will be your permanent (homestead) residence. Or for those who have now decided to live in their vacation homes on a permanent basis and are no longer declaring a home in some other state as their homesteaded residence.
Do be aware that homeowners who plan to make their homes their permanent residences, or in other words, their homesteads, should apply for the exemptions just has they have in the past. That means that they had to close on the purchase of their home and occupy it before the end of 2011.

Average Mortgage Interest Rates Stay at Record Low Levels - Unchanged from Last Week! - 02/16/12 06:59 PM
Today, 2/16/2012, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.87%, unchanged from last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.16%,unchanged from last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 5.00%! This is the third week in a row that rates have been this stable!
A Freddie Mac spokesperson said, "Fixed mortgage rates were unchanged this week amid mixed confidence measures. Our local 2012 Pasco County Fair will take place from February 20th to the 26th in Dade City, Florida. This local event is always popular with our year-round residents and our winter visitors. Today, 2/9/2012, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.87%, unchanged from last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.16%, up slightly from 3.14% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 5.05%!
Strong employment figures in January 2012 tended to push up many mortgage interest rates, However, the 30 year fixed-rate average interest was unchanged from last week and remains at historically low levels for a second week.

This year the Zephyrhills, Florida Founders Day Celebration will take place in downtown Zephyrhills on March 10th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the day's parade starting at 10:00 AM. This will be the 102nd time that this event has taken place here. So there is some history behind it!

Freddie Mac: Average Mortgage Interest Rates Return to Record Low Levels! - 02/02/12 01:37 PM
Today, 2/2/2012, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.87%, down sharply from 3.98% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.14%, down from 3.24% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.81%!
After taking a big jump last week, interest rates settled down to about the same levels they were at two weeks ago. Record lows. Lower than expected growth in the economy for the 4th quarter of 2011 was the cause of the drop. Consumer spending in December was also "flat".
