2012: 2012 Hurricane Tracking Map Available for Downloading Here! - 05/30/12 07:35 PM
On June 1st the 2012 Hurricane Season began. Let's hope that this year will be a quiet one. Though it would be nice is some mild tropical storms or depressions would swing by to drop off some much needed rain here in Florida.
The National Hurricane Center has a hurricane tracking map that you can download in PDF format. Print it up, put it on your fridge or bulletin board, and you can monitor any storms that might be approaching our area. Kind of fun to do as long as the storms do not get too close.

In Spain, where I lived for 12 wonderful years, they celebrate Mothers' Day two weeks ahead of us here in the USA. But the sentiments are the same. To show appreciation to those women, without whom, none of us would be here.

2012: Patriot Flea Market in Zephyrhills, Florida Closed for the Summer of 2012 - Re-Opens in October! - 04/16/12 02:10 PM
My dad has informed me that the Patriot Flea Market just south of Zephyrhills, Florida is no longer open and is taking a break for the summer. That makes sense since so many of our residents have returned to their northern homes and the weather here is really heating up. Perhaps a little too hot to be wandering around under our intense summer sun here in Forida. Dad believes that the flea market will re-open in late October 2012. 2012: 102nd Founders Day Celebration in Zephyrhills, Florida on March 10, 2012 - 02/07/12 05:11 PM
This year the Zephyrhills, Florida Founders Day Celebration will take place in downtown Zephyrhills on March 10th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the day's parade starting at 10:00 AM. This will be the 102nd time that this event has taken place here. So there is some history behind it!
This year's theme is: Unsung Heroes of Zephyrhills: Past and Present. The organizers of the day define an "unsung hero" as "a person who makes a substantive yet unrecognized contribution. Or an unsung hero is a person whose bravery is unknown or unacknowledged."

2012: Mark Your Calendars! Florida's 2012 State Fair will take place from February 9th to 20th! - 01/17/12 07:38 PM
When I lived back in New York, our state fair always took place in August when the weather was hot and the kids were all out of school. Here, our Florida State Fair occurs in February when our weather is pleasantly mild and during the week the kids are in school leaving the fairgrounds less crowded. Students get their chance to enjoy in the evenings and on the weekends.
This year the fair will be held from February 9th to the 20th at the fairgrounds located just east of the City of Tampa, Florida along US 301.

You cannot avoid it on the television, radio, internet, and in the newspapers. Elections are coming in the near future. As part of the 2012 Election Cycle, some will be local, some statewide, and others national. Most of us realize that we are at a crossroads, and it is important that voters make EDUCATED choices. "Eeny, meenie, minie, mo" is no way to vote for leaders and laws that will affect all of us. So make sure you get the facts before you vote!
