john elwell realtor: Freddie Mac: Average Mortgage Interest Rates Increase for 3rd Straight Week - 12/09/10 02:46 PM
Today, 12/9/10,  Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.61% (4.58% in the southeast), up from 4.46% a week ago. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.96%, up from 3.81% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.81%. 
Bond yields went up as a result of more positive news about the economic situation in Europe. And mortgage interest rates played "follow the leader". Our current average interest rate is nearly 1/2 a point higher than the low we hit in October of this year. On a typical loan of $200,000, … (0 comments)

Today, November 30th, is the official "last day" of the 2010 Hurricane Season. Though possible, it is very unlikely that a hurricane will not cause us any harm since the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexicao are cooling off after the summer heat. We were again lucky this year and had no major storm come our way. That was good news for sure. Funny though how most of our insurance rates did not drop and the insurance companies continue to cry poverty.

Recently I had to get a prescription filled. I checked at the pharmacy I normally go to and was shocked to find out that the price of it was going to be $55! john elwell realtor: Freddie Mac: Average Fixed Rate Mortgage Rates Edge Upward JUST a Tad! - 10/21/10 07:31 PM
Today, 10/21/10,  Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.21% (4.30% in the southeast), up from 4.19% a week ago. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.64%,up from 3.62% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 5.00%. 
While the Producer Price Index went up more than most experts had anticipated, the Consumer Price Index went down more than had been expected. These mixed signals helped to keep interest rates from changing drastically.
On a positive note, Freddie Mac reports that construction may be showing some signs of awakening a bit. … (0 comments)

Today, 10/7/10,  Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.27% (4.33% in the southeast), down from 4.32% a week ago. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.72%, down from 3.75% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.87%. 
At some point both interest rates and housing prices will start to climb. Today, 7/29/10,  Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.54% (4.60% in the southeast), down from 4.56% a week ago. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.00%, down from 4.03% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 5.25%. Again, these are record lows for the Freddie Mac survey that we may not see again for a very long time! Hard to believe they have dropped to this level.
