For the first 3 months of 2012, CENTURY 21 Corporate has reported that I am amongst the Top 40 agents in northern and central Florida based on the number of "sides sold" in transactions. Today, 3/8/2012, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.88%, down from 3.90% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.13%, down from 3.17% from last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.88%. Take advantage of these rates if you can! The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.17%, down from 3.19% from last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.87%! Take advantage of these rates if you can! On several occasions I have sold older homes. Many laypersons do not realize that if a home (including mobile homes) was built prior to 1978, it is mandatory that the buyers receive a lead-based paint addendum in their purchase offer and also receive a copy of the brochure from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) titled: Protect Your Family from Lead in Your Home. Often when buyers purchase/lease a home directly from a seller/landlord with no trained and licensed real estate professional involved in the transaction, the law is not followed. As a result, future problems can occur.

Today, 12/29/2011, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.95%, up from 3.91% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.24%, up from 3.21% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.86%!
Though interest rates did increase this week, they are still below 4% and that makes homeownership much more within the grasp of many home buyers. Imagine locking in that low rate for the next 30 years! I am betting that in just a few years we will look back at these rates and shake our heads … (0 comments)

Today, November 30th, is officially the "last day" of the 2011 Hurricane Season. Though possible, it is very unlikely that a hurricane will now cause us any harm since the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexicao are cooling off after the summer heat. Hurricanes need very warm waters in order to get started.
We were fortunate again this year and had no major storms come our way. That was good news for sure. Funny though how most of our insurance rates did not drop and the insurance companies continue to cry poverty.

One of my colleagues got a call from the neighbors of one his listings informing him that the external section of the central air-conditioning unit was missing. The worst thing is that the owners had paid over $4,000 for the new system just last spring! Now, a major component is gone!
In the past, thieves were after the copper tubing, or so we thought. Now it looks like they want entire exterior units. Perhaps to install somewhere else or to sell to a fence. Regardless of the motive, the owner is still stuck with the loss of a very expensive item.

Today, 11/10/2011, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.99%, down from 4.00% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.30%, down from last 3.31% week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.17%. Nice to be below the 4% point once again. Hope some of you can take advantage of the low rates we have this week.

If you have been watching the news over this past weekend, many inches of snow have fallen along the northeast coast of the United States. Our kids have not yet gone "trick or treating" and yet there is snow on the ground. I remember hearing about "frost on the pumpkins", but this is ridiculous. Here is a picture that one of my FaceBook friends, Bill Quackenbush, took of his corner of New York State. Beautiful, to be sure. But cold and slippery.

realtors: Another Week of Little Change in Average Mortgage Interest Rates: Freddie Mac - 10/27/11 02:47 PM
Today, 10/27/2011, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.10%, just slightly down from 4.11% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.38%, unchanged from last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.23%. Basically, same-old-same-old. But still very low, historically speaking, which is great. I just had a buyer yesterday who locked in 4% for the next 30 years. Wow!
Again, "mixed signals" conspired to keep rates relatively stable. Consumer confidence in the nation was down, but sales of new homes was up. Go figure! One … (0 comments)

Today, 10/13/2011, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.12%, up from 3.94% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.37%, up from 3.26% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.19%.
I hope that many of you were able to take advantage of last week's incredible rates. How great it would be to lock in that tiny amount for 30 years! Talk about bargains.
