oklahoma city real estate: Zillow Home Value Index - Oklahoma City - 11/15/10 01:56 AM
After reading Brad Andersohn's "FeedBlitz" today he shared an interesting chart from Zillow. I changed the cities to show the markets of Oklahoma City and Dallas/Ft Worth and the result was both metro areas have remained relatively stable since 2006. I included The Miami/Fort Lauderdale area because I came from there in 2006. There the Home Value Index has dropped by over 50%. As a sales manager there in 2005 our company sold hundreds of condo conversion units. It is just unthinkable that all those units now sell for half of what we sold them for just 5 years ago.

oklahoma city real estate: OKlahoma City - tops in the lowest unemployment rate in the country - 02/03/10 10:43 PM
The US Labor Department has reported the top cities ending in 2009 with the lowest unemployment rates of cities with over 1 million population in the Metro area. The top six cities are:
Oklahoma City         6% Washington DC        6.2% New Orleans             6.8% San Antonio             6.8%  Austin                     6.9% Virginia Beach          6.9% The cities with the highest rates were Detroit at 16.9% and Riverside, CA at 16.0%. There were 17 additional cities with unemployment rates of 10.0% or greater.
I would think this is good news for Oklahoma City real estate as we head into the new year.
