IRES First Colorado Green MLS As a member of the Appraisal Committee at the Colorado Governor’s Energy Office (GEO), I’m proud to say we’ve made some very good progress. Over the past few months the committee has developed a set of recommended ‘green fields’ for adoption by the various Colorado MLS. IRES, the leading MLS provider for Northern Colorado went live last Wednesday. That makes IRES the first MLS in the state to implement the green fields recommended by the Appraisal Committee. This means green certified homes like Energy Star and LEED can now be identified in the search

Colorado Monday Mountain Motivation I love living in Colorado partly because I never get tired of looking up. The mountains here are such a joy to behold. It’s much more than what I see that moves me. It’s what I feel when I look at them. I feel many things but inspired and motivated are at the top of the list. And I enjoy sharing that with others. Real Estate Recovery Through Retrofit On Tuesday 20 October, Vice President Biden announced a Federal program to retrofit existing homes and buildings to make them more energy efficient. The intention, as described in the ‘Recovery Through Retrofit Report’ released on the same day is to help create ‘green sector’ jobs while addressing an important environmental issue greenhouse emissions. Approximately twenty percent of the United States carbon dioxide emissions are generated by the nation’s 130 million homes. The programs goals are to reduce home energy use by 40% by 2020 which would lower greenhouse gas emissions by up to 160 million metric
