wwwmynewnchomecom: Introducing yourself...how do you do it? - 12/10/07 10:11 PM
Typical situation...
Standing in line at the local grocery store.  If you are like me I tend to make small talk with those around me as that is just the type of person I am.
The person in line behind you makes the comment, "What do you do for a living?"
Now how would you answer this question?
If you are like most you would say..."I am a Realtor" or "I sell houses" or something like that.
Now let me ask you...how far does the conversation usually go after you have muttered those words?
Not far, right?  That usually pretty much ends the conversation right there.
How about … (5 comments)

wwwmynewnchomecom: Fayetteville Observer does small article on blogs - 12/09/07 03:54 PM
The Fayetteville Observer is the local newspaper to the Fayetteville, NC area.
I am sorry to say that it is not about Active Rain but at least they did do a small article about blogs.
The blog that they discussed was Design Sponge.  I went and took a look at Design Sponge and it was quit an interesting blog.  No where near the quality of AR when it comes to real estate but it wasn't designed for that, this blog is about interior design type things and did have some interesting reading.
Another blog they wrote about was Apartment Therapy.  This site from what … (1 comments)

wwwmynewnchomecom: Reading the "Terms of Service", oh how important! - 12/07/07 09:22 AM
Just a short time ago I read an blog post here on AR that mentioned a company called http://www.4info.net/.  The post was about a neat feature that they have that allows you to create html to post onto your website which creates a small text message generator so that clients can contact you directly.
I thought this was a novel idea!  So, I visited the site and signed up and began to make my text generator and place it on my site.
Once on the site I tested it.  I got the text message almost immediately!  This is amazing I thought.
About a week … (5 comments)

wwwmynewnchomecom: The great points race..look at 'em go! - 12/06/07 03:39 PM
I don't know about you but I write my blog and make comments on other's blogs for the education factor and the community feeling.
But lately I have been noticing that points are also motivating factors.
Do you often check your state page to see where you rank?  I keep an eye on it but I can assure you that it is not the main focus of my reason for being "in the rain."  I am the featured agent in my county but that is because I come here to learn and in turn that means blogging and commenting.  The others from … (5 comments)

wwwmynewnchomecom: Neighborhood Pages...they do work! - 12/04/07 03:56 PM
I came up with the idea recently to make individual pages for neighborhoods in my area.  Now, I have to warn you...this type of thing is a lot of work.   BUT...it does pay off.
Apparently everyone does website for the general area that they live in (i.e. the town or city) but not many do them for individual neighborhoods.  That is the secret to this.
I have created pages for some neighborhoods in my area and when you do a search for them I come back as Google page #1.
Go ahead, try it.
Open a browser window and go to Google.com, now … (6 comments)

wwwmynewnchomecom: One of the most powerful tools in my arsenal...and I get 8 for $1 - 11/27/07 01:57 PM
Yes, you read that title right.  I have a very powerful tool in my arsenal and yes I can get 8 of them for $1.  They are not hard to find, they can be located at just about every turn in the road.
What is this magical tool that I have that I get 8 of for $1, you ask?
A simple thank you card.
In today's world of fast paced impersonal contact we often do not take the time to do the little things that make a difference.
Sure, you can send out an email to 100 people at the time telling them thank … (26 comments)

wwwmynewnchomecom: I think I am going to buy a Santa hat... - 11/27/07 10:19 AM
As I was reading a blog on here this morning I noticed the writer was wearing a Santa hat.  What a great way to show the Christmas spirit!
I have been sitting here this morning and thinking about the idea of a Santa hat.  Now maybe to some of you who think that the image of a real estate professional wearing a Santa hat is not going to work, I am saying...THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX!
In our everyday attire we all appear the same to the consumer.  As a matter of fact if we don't do something to differentiate ourselves from others … (3 comments)

wwwmynewnchomecom: Website: Building Your Own - 09/20/07 09:46 AM
Do you have a website?
It is a well known fact that more buyers are going onto the Internet to begin their home search in today's times.  If you don't have a web presence of some sort you could very well be missing out on potential buyers and sellers who start the process on the web.
How do I get a site you ask?  There are many providers out there who can help you with this and I strongly recommend some research before choosing the provider you want to work with.  Some of the sites can be had for free and work very … (48 comments)

wwwmynewnchomecom: Need a contact form for your website? - 09/14/07 02:10 PM
I am just finishing up making a new lead generating page for a website I am doing.  I made the page using Yahoo small business (this is going to another blog all in itself).
After all of the hard work making this page I was dissapointed to find that the "contact form" that Yahoo offers leave  lot to be desired.  So off to the net I went in search of a way to make a custom form that would do what I wanted.
I find several sites that could do this for me.  Some were, to me, quite expensive.  One was $19 … (7 comments)
