The Freedom Rock--A Memorial Day Tribute - 05/29/11 06:47 PM
There is a spot off the beaten path in rural Iowa where the true meaning of Memorial Day lives on in vibrant color.  While the paintings on the 56 ton, 12 ft granite boulder are truly a work of art, what is even more remarkable, is that the talented artist, Ray "Bubba" Sorenson II, was only 19 years old when he painted his first Memorial Day tribute.
Sorenson says he was inspired by the film "Saving Private Ryan", which he left feeling like patriotism was at an all time low and that too many of us had forgotten that Memorial Day … (0 comments)

Mount Lemmon SkyCenter - 05/29/11 02:48 PM
One of the things I love most about living in the great Southwest are the night skies.  I never grow tired of watching as the sun melts across the sky in brilliant fiery colors before slipping silently behind the mountains so that a billion stars can come out to play.  There is something quite magical about living in a place where I can actually see the milky way.
If you are like me, you can't help but feel a fascination for the astronomical wonders that twinkle so brightly at night far beyond our reach.  To help you bring into focus the … (0 comments)

Plant A Garden Of Sustainable Daily Living - 05/23/11 11:36 AM
I love gardening!   With my hands deep in the earth, creativity blooms effortlessly like flowers in the spring.  Gardening not only brings me peace of mind, but it is the place where I do my best thinking.  My garden rewards me in equal parts to what I put into it by brilliantly displaying the fruits of my labor.
Most important it is a daily reminder that we reap what we sow whether it is professionally, personally or through the time we spend in our garden.
I'm sure my affinity with my garden is the reason why the following message, … (0 comments)

Unlikely Pairing Of A Hippo & Tortoise Teaches Us To Embrace Differences - 05/15/11 02:35 PM
Out of tragedy, joy triumphs and from chaos springs a most unlikely pairing of a century old tortoise and a baby hippo.  They met shortly after the tsunami waves struck the Kenyan coast on December 26, 2004 and have been inseparable ever since.
The hippopotamus's (nicknamed Owen) traumatic tale began when he was swept down the Sabaki River into the Indian Ocean and then forced back to shore when the tsnamic waves struck the Kenyan coast before wildlife rangers were able to rescue him on that fateful day.  Owen, less than a year old, lost his birth mother when the … (3 comments)

What Your Walls Are Saying To Buyers - 05/14/11 07:44 PM

You’ve put your Green Valley, Arizona house on the market and inside are walls drenched in your favorite paint colors.  According to Debbie Zimmer, color expert at the Paint Quality Institute in Philadelphia, “paint color is so powerful that if can influence not just our state of mind but even our physiology”.
Curious what your walls are saying to your potential buyers?  They are definitely speaking volumes and here’s what they have to say (see italicized):
RED:  Muy caliente…am I too hot for you to handle?  Give me a chance and I’ll put the zing back into your life by … (0 comments)

Green Valley, AZ April 2011 Real Estate Statistics - 05/08/11 10:47 AM
April is my favorite month of the year in Southern Arizona.  A time when it seems that even the most unattractive cactus is transformed into a thing of exceptional beauty.  When we want, more than anything, to brave those prickly beasts to touch their exquisite flowers.  While the desert around us bloomed, the real estate market continued to flower in its own right as well.  There were 112 houses sold in April as compared to the 115 that were sold in the month of March.  On a year to date (YTD) basis 2011 continued to out perform 2010 with 375 sales … (1 comments)
