judi morgan: Back where I started... - 06/17/10 02:01 PM
A few years ago I left the company I had started my real estate career with. I had worked hard and was ranked #3 in the company when I left -- looking for greener pastures. WHY in the world was I looking for greener pastures when I was doing very well where I was? I still don't have an answer to that question -- except that I was influenced by some other 'friends' who suggested we form a Team at another company. I trusted them and made the move only to have one of them not move as planned and the

judi morgan: San Antonio Water Rates Increase in 2009 - 01/01/09 11:44 PM
The San Antonio City Council recently approved a 3.9% rate adjustment (increase) in our water & sewer usage will go into effect in January, 2009. The funds will go directly into our community to repair and replace our aging water and waste water infrastructure and to provide funding to develop critical water supply projects. The estimated increase would be approximately $1.63 per month - based on the average SAWS residential usage of 7,788 gallon of water and 6,178 gallons of wastewater usage per month. Complete rate tables and a residential rate calculator are available on the San Antonio Water System website.

judi morgan: Want to save money on your water bill? Here’s how. . . - 01/01/09 11:20 PM
San Antonio is suffering an extreme drought. Since September, 2007, we've had only 16.4" of rain in the San Antonio area. That just isn't enough rain to recharge the Edwards Aquifer. Here's one way to help postpone water usage restrictions. You can get a FREE home water conservation audit. It only takes a few minutes but it could save you some money. Here's how it works: A trained conservation water auditor checks all your water connections - toilets, faucets, spigots - for leaks. The auditor can also check your irrigation system (if you have one) to determine how it's performing and

judi morgan: San Antonio, Texas – Voluntary Drought Restrictions - 01/01/09 10:35 PM
Winter here in San Antonio usually brings rain. This is when the Edwards Aquifer is recharged by all of the seasonal rain. No t this year - we're in the midst of an extreme drought - the worse one since the 1950's. Our Aquifer level is falling instead of rising or at least holding steady. Did you know that we use 2,000 gallons of water every time we use our irrigation or sprinkler system? San Antonio Water System (SAWS) is asking that we try to reduce the amount of water we're using both inside and outside. With a combination

judi morgan: RAINMAKERS NEEDED!!! - 01/01/09 08:56 PM
How about a Rainmaker's Convention? Any help would be appreciated. San Antonio completed 2008 with the driest 16 months September, 2007 through December, 2008, in recorded history. We had less than 1" of rain in the past 4 months and climate scientists are saying the dry conditions could last until the fall. The San Antonio Water System (SAWS) is considering implementing drought restrictions when the Edwards Aquifer falls to 660 feet above sea level. The restrictions currently kick in at 650 feet above sea level but in conditions of severe drought this would kick in earlier and help conserve more water. The area drought

judi morgan: Christmas In The Mansion – The Woodward House in San Antonio, TX - 12/23/08 07:55 PM
Earlier this month, The Woman's Club of San Antonio, opened the historic Woodward House to the public to celebrate their annual "Christmas In The Mansion". The 9,000 sq.ft. house was decorated from head to toe in the traditional Christmas Red & Green. This year's theme was Gingerbread. Thanks to many Club Members loaning personal collections of Gingerbread decorations and purchasing additional decorations using that theme, members of the club spent a good part of a week preparing the house for the Annual Event. Here are some photos taken throughout the week of the event. Next year's "Christmas In The Mansion" is

judi morgan: “In Memory of” . . . A Beautiful Fleur De Lis Print. . . found on my trip home to Louisiana - 12/20/08 12:05 PM
Most of my friends here on Active Rain know (from my MEME's) that although I live and sell real estate in the beautiful city of San Antonio, TX; I am a Louisiana "Cajun" girl. I was born and raised in the beautiful Bayou State in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Like I say, "you can take the girl out of the bayou but you can't take the bayou out of the girl". We drove the 5-1/2 to 6 hour trip this past weekend to attend my husband's family Annual Christmas Gathering. With 6 siblings, wives/husbands, children & grandchildren - it's quite a Gathering.

judi morgan: The Woman's Club of San Antonio -- 110 years strong. - 11/07/08 10:55 PM
The Woman's Club of San Antonio was organized on October 1, 1898. Miss Marion Fenwick, Woman's Page Editor of the Daily Express and Miss M. Eleanor Brackenridge, Clubwoman Philantropist organized the Club. They had attended a General Federation of Women's Clubs convention in Denver in 1898 and were inspired. Upon returning to San Antonio, they invited the History Club to come to Room 5 of the Daily Express Building to organize The Woman's Club of San Antonio. There were 15 Charter Members at that meeting. The Club had many meeting places until July 8, 1926, when they purchased the Woodward Mansion

judi morgan: GOLF IS ALIVE AND WELL IN SAN ANTONIO, TX - 08/30/08 10:55 AM
Where was the first municipal golf course in Texas built? If you guessed San Antonio you are absolutely right. The world famous and accomplished golf course architect A. W. Tillinghast designed and built Brackenridge Park Golf Course in 1915. Brackenridge Park was one of his earliest works. In 1922, John Bredemus, a famous San Antonio Olympian, co-founded the Texas Open which was held at Brackenridge until 1959. The list of Texas Open winners is a who's who of the most famous golfers of all time, including Hagen, Sarazen, Hogan, Nelson and Snead. After many years, the Brack fell into a state

judi morgan: Texas Spring Flowers...blooming along the highways and byways - 04/30/08 05:21 PM
Spring in Texas is a beautiful time of the year. Down in the San Antonio, TX area we usually have a mild Winter however, we're always more than ready for Winter to end and Spring to arrive. As I drive the highways and byways of the Bexar, Kendall, Comal, and Guadalupe Counties showing homes to clients, I try to point out the different flowers that are blooming! Especially the Blue Bonnets -- we know Spring has arrived when our beloved Blue Bonnets start peaking through the grasses along the highway medians and in the open fields. They are followed by Indian

judi morgan: Active Rain, Mexican Food and M & M’s in New Braunfels, TX - 03/06/08 07:30 PM
Today is a gray, cold, rainy, and very windy day in South Central Texas; but, I woke up ready and excited for my day to start. First, I had to stop by the office and then take the 30 minute drive up to New Braunfels, TX. I had an appointment scheduled with some former clients to discuss listing the house I sold them 3 years ago. Employer has asked them to relocate - they love their house and New Braunfels and will miss both but must move forward with their lives. That's not the reason I was excited for my day

Ricki Eichler & I met here on Active Rain back in November when she joined and I was one of the first members to welcome her. There was an immediate connection - of course, we're both in Texas and both with Coldwell Banker franchises but there was more to it. We've been scheduling lunches since November and life and business kept getting in the way. But, yesterday, we were finally able to work both schedules so that we could meet in Bandera, TX (with a little tweaking of schedules throughout the morning). What was supposed to be a 12:00 o'clock lunch turned
