san antonio tx real estate: Are Your Appliances and Gadgets "Electricity Guzzlers"? - 05/18/11 09:11 PM
We ALL have more appliances and gadgets these days. Here are some tips on how to keep your "electricity guzzlers" in check and save a few dollars every month. Turning off TVs and Computers when they aren't in use, can save you money. Desktop computers use 60 to 250 watts of electricity - turn off your computer and monitor when you're not using them. A Laptop Computer uses 15 to 45 watts of electricity an hour - consider using a laptop instead of a desktop computer. Computers use 1 to 6 watts in standby mode - set your computer to auto-sleep

san antonio tx real estate: Back where I started... - 06/17/10 02:01 PM
A few years ago I left the company I had started my real estate career with. I had worked hard and was ranked #3 in the company when I left -- looking for greener pastures. WHY in the world was I looking for greener pastures when I was doing very well where I was? I still don't have an answer to that question -- except that I was influenced by some other 'friends' who suggested we form a Team at another company. I trusted them and made the move only to have one of them not move as planned and the

The San Antonio City Council recently approved a 3.9% rate adjustment (increase) in our water & sewer usage will go into effect in January, 2009. The funds will go directly into our community to repair and replace our aging water and waste water infrastructure and to provide funding to develop critical water supply projects. The estimated increase would be approximately $1.63 per month - based on the average SAWS residential usage of 7,788 gallon of water and 6,178 gallons of wastewater usage per month. Complete rate tables and a residential rate calculator are available on the San Antonio Water System website.

san antonio tx real estate: Want to save money on your water bill? Here’s how. . . - 01/01/09 11:20 PM
San Antonio is suffering an extreme drought. Since September, 2007, we've had only 16.4" of rain in the San Antonio area. That just isn't enough rain to recharge the Edwards Aquifer. Here's one way to help postpone water usage restrictions. You can get a FREE home water conservation audit. It only takes a few minutes but it could save you some money. Here's how it works: A trained conservation water auditor checks all your water connections - toilets, faucets, spigots - for leaks. The auditor can also check your irrigation system (if you have one) to determine how it's performing and

san antonio tx real estate: San Antonio, Texas – Voluntary Drought Restrictions - 01/01/09 10:35 PM
Winter here in San Antonio usually brings rain. This is when the Edwards Aquifer is recharged by all of the seasonal rain. No t this year - we're in the midst of an extreme drought - the worse one since the 1950's. Our Aquifer level is falling instead of rising or at least holding steady. Did you know that we use 2,000 gallons of water every time we use our irrigation or sprinkler system? San Antonio Water System (SAWS) is asking that we try to reduce the amount of water we're using both inside and outside. With a combination

san antonio tx real estate: RAINMAKERS NEEDED!!! - 01/01/09 08:56 PM
How about a Rainmaker's Convention? Any help would be appreciated. San Antonio completed 2008 with the driest 16 months September, 2007 through December, 2008, in recorded history. We had less than 1" of rain in the past 4 months and climate scientists are saying the dry conditions could last until the fall. The San Antonio Water System (SAWS) is considering implementing drought restrictions when the Edwards Aquifer falls to 660 feet above sea level. The restrictions currently kick in at 650 feet above sea level but in conditions of severe drought this would kick in earlier and help conserve more water. The area drought

Eleanor Brackenridge, Clubwoman Philantropist organized the Club. They had attended a General Federation of Women's Clubs convention in Denver in 1898 and were inspired. Upon returning to San Antonio, they invited the History Club to come to Room 5 of the Daily Express Building to organize The Woman's Club of San Antonio. san antonio tx real estate: GOLF IS ALIVE AND WELL IN SAN ANTONIO, TX - 08/30/08 10:55 AM
Where was the first municipal golf course in Texas built? If you guessed San Antonio you are absolutely right. The world famous and accomplished golf course architect A. W. Tillinghast designed and built Brackenridge Park Golf Course in 1915. Brackenridge Park was one of his earliest works. In 1922, John Bredemus, a famous San Antonio Olympian, co-founded the Texas Open which was held at Brackenridge until 1959. The list of Texas Open winners is a who's who of the most famous golfers of all time, including Hagen, Sarazen, Hogan, Nelson and Snead. After many years, the Brack fell into a state

Spring in Texas is a beautiful time of the year. Down in the San Antonio, TX area we usually have a mild Winter however, we're always more than ready for Winter to end and Spring to arrive. As I drive the highways and byways of the Bexar, Kendall, Comal, and Guadalupe Counties showing homes to clients, I try to point out the different flowers that are blooming! Especially the Blue Bonnets -- we know Spring has arrived when our beloved Blue Bonnets start peaking through the grasses along the highway medians and in the open fields. They are followed by Indian

As many of you already know, Don & I were married at Marriage Island on the San Antonio River Walk on Saturday, November 3, 2007. I promised pictures. . . here they are. Shortly after the ceremony and posing for photos, we and our wedding guests left the River Walk and drove north of downtown to The Scenic Loop Café. It had been a beautiful day and the evening was just as beautiful. The sky was clear and the temperature in the high 60's. Our tables were set-up on the Arbor Patio, near the stage and waterfall - a beautiful
