My 3 year old black Labrador named McGrew loves to play and play and play. When I rescued and adopted him last year my 7 year old male Boxer named Guthrie (also a rescue) was not very pleased. Guthrie was very aloof for the longest time but McGrew just kept on following and hanging out with him.
Here they are heading out through the yard. I see this all of the time. McGrew is definitely a herding dog.
They are now best buds and I actually find (18 comments)
In December 2011, in fact the day after Christmas, I lost my beautiful male Boxer named BABE to cancer. I was heartbroken, my mother missed him and our two other dogs were also mourning his loss.
In January 2012 I began to search for a new dog. Would it be another Boxer? I really saw one in a high kill shelter that needed rescued, but with my mother’s health condition and the unknowns of this Boxer, we had to pass. Fortunately he was pulled by Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue and was (18 comments)
Enjoying a sunny, but cool day here in the Carolinas!!
Today was a beautiful day following the heavy rain and storms of yesterday.
I had the privilege to work from home today and it was a joy.
I got so much done, but I also got to enjoy the company of my three fur babies. Guthrie, McGrew and Corina.
Here is a picture of McGrew and Corina playing on one of our trips outside. They are enjoying a sunny but cool day here in the Carolinas. They are both dogs that I adopted from.. Blue (12 comments)
blue ridge boxer rescue: Just Waiting to be Rescued!!! - 01/13/13 04:34 PM
Have you ever considered fostering or adopting from your local animal shelter or rescue group? Last year I had the very painful experience of losing two of my Boxers that I had for many years. One passed after Christmas 2011 and my female Boxer passed in July 2012. To say I was heart-broken is an understatement. Not only was I mourning their loss, but my male Boxer named Guthrie was also very down and sad. I knew that I could not replace BABE and LadyLilly, but I could open my heart and home to other dogs in need of a loving (20 comments)
The past two weeks have been sad for my family and my other pets. Everyone is fine but everyone is experiencing the loss.
I gave a donation in honor of BABE to Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue for that is where I first met and fostered my sweet Boxer and have enjoyed having him in our lives for over 8 years. BABE can never be replaced, but (17 comments)
Two months ago my Boxer named BABE began to have seizures and lose his vision. I took him to the Vet and he was placed on phenobarbitol. He has been doing great and you would never know that he had gone blind. He was responding to step, stop, careful and etc.
I became a foster parent to BABE in 2003 when he ended up in the Charlotte pound and was on death row for he was heart-worm positive. I volunteer with Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue and at that time I offered (19 comments)
blue ridge boxer rescue: I Am so Grateful for Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue! - 10/29/11 08:19 PM
Years ago I was so lucky to meet the many wonderful directors and volunteers with Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue. I started really slow when I first volunteered with Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue. You may wonder what one can do to assist and volunteer for a local rescue group in your area. You can volunteer your time to attend and assist with fundraisers. You can volunteer to help transport animals. They have to be transported from where they are rescued from to their foster homes or to the vetinarian for appts. You can donate money. You can volunteer to head up a fundraiser. (11 comments)

This beautiful Boxer was rescued by Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue and he is now available for adoption. His name is Cash and he is very handsome. Here he is in his Halloween Costume. I think he is trying to tell us something. I think he is saying...I am going to sting the heck out of you if you don't get me out of this outfit.
Hey everybody I'm Cash money but my foster mom calls me Cashman...cause I'm all boy. I love to play and play hard. I LOVE other dogs especially the Ladies (wink* wink*) and would prefer a (20 comments)

Paying it Forward...Donating via "Chipin" to help cover medical costs for a very sick Boxer. Last week this beautiful "pocket" Boxer was pulled from a high kill shelter in Greenville, SC. by Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue. She was so tiny that they thought she was a puppy. . Here is the write up about her when she was first pulled. They named her Sonya. Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue rescued Sonya from Greenville County Animal Care Services (GCACS) June 27, 2011. At first we were told Sonya was a puppy but luck would have it this girl is just a "pocket (9 comments)
Today I saw on Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue's site a plea for foster homes. There are more dogs in need due to the tough economic times. People are having to make heart breaking decisions when faced with loss of job, home and etc. Many wonderful pets are being dropped off at the pound and many will never receive a second chance. Here are a few of the beautiful boxers that need a foster home....now! The beautiful boy above is named Bennie. He is being treated for demodex mange. If I could...I would take him in a minute. Enjoying Life After Escaping Death Row. This is Guthrie and BABE and they were both in high kill shelters and to be destroyed when Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue pulled them to safety. I was the lucky one when I agreed to foster them. As you can see they found their "furever" home with me. Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue
Each and every day I give thanks for having them in my life. They make me smile, laugh and my heart sings. Get involved with a rescue group. You will never regret it. You just may save a life! Judith Parker, (10 comments)

Here is something that makes my heart sing...my three boxers...Lady Lilly, Guthrie and BABE...Enjoy! Many people question how I found them. Lady Lilly to the left I purchased as a puppy before I knew about rescue. Guthrie my youngest (in the middle) was rescued from a high kill shelter. The rescue worker kept hiding him each day he was scheduled to be destroyed. She begged Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue to help and thank goodness we did. What a love bug! Finally there is BABE. He was also rescued from a high kill pound. To be destroyed for he was heart worm positive. Once (28 comments)

blue ridge boxer rescue: "Pay it Forward...Transporting a Foster Pup to his New Foster to Adopt Home! - 01/02/11 10:46 PM
Pay it Forward...transporting a foster pup to his new foster to adopt home. For 12 days over Christmas I opened my home and heart to a beautiful 7 month old male boxer pup who had been dropped at a boarding facility, because his owners were getting a divorce and no longer wanted him. Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue had agreed to take him, but the foster home could not take him until December 27th. Thus, I agreed to take him until December 27th. He did great with my three Boxers and I was thrilled to share our home and Christmas with him. (13 comments)
