My Garden Wants to Know ... Getting Rid of Grub Worms Without Pesticides???

This week I was busy weeding my peony and lilly garden and was finding a lot of those grubby Grub worms.

I hate to use pesticides for our three dogs play in our back yard all of the time.  I also hate to use pesticides for it is harmful to the birds that frequent and enjoy our yard.
I visited a gardening center and asked some questions about this grubby Grub worm.
First the Grub worm is the larvae of the beetles or what we … (16 comments)

Get Your Pets Involved in Earth Day!!

This is one of my dogs that was re-cycled and saved.  Her name is Corina and we love her.  Thank goodness for rescue groups.  She came to me from Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue.

Doesn't her face show joy in being loved and having a home to call her own?

Earth Day is a good day to look at ways to save energy as well as re-cycle.  It helps if we all look for ways to do our part.

So Excited for The Tulips are Blooming in Charlotte, NC

Last fall I saw these tulip bulbs and the pictures showed double tulips in pinks and white.  I purchased two bags of bulbs and planted these late last fall.  This was my first attempt with Tulips.

Well, this week with the rains and warmer weather they decided to start blooming.  They were really enjoying the sunny 80+ degree weather today.

There is something so rewarding about digging in the ground to prepare a spot, plant something in that spot and wait to see the magic happen.

We walked and walked and just enjoyed browsing and looking at the many different collectibles.  I also enjoyed just watching the people.  It was like watching children in a candy store.  People … (8 comments)

Got to The ROOT of the Evil in Charlotte, NC
For the past several weeks I have been suffering with tooth pain around one of my caps.  It had gotten worse over the week-end to the point that I looked like a big squirrel with a cheek full of acorns.  Not a pretty sight.

I knew it was to the point that I really needed some help.

I contacted Charlotte Endodontics and was seen today by Dr. Evan N. Miller, D.D.S., P.A.

I had an absess and needed a root canal.  I was sick when I heard … (10 comments)

The Red Slaw of North Carolina!!!
I have friends coming to Charlotte, NC this week-end and all they can talk about is barbecue and “RED Slaw.”
The decision has been made that we will be eating at Mac’s Speed Shop on South Boulevard, but they do not serve RED Slaw.
I did a little research among friends who have lived in NC for years and was told that RED slaw is a vinegar based slaw and great when served as a side or on top of barbecued pork or chicken.

To make this RED Slaw….

Can You Hear Me?  Can You Hear Me Now?  Manna Audiology, Matthews, NC

In October 2012 my 89 year old mother awakened one morning and described what sounded like a lot of locust buzzing in her ears and then her hearing was gone.

My mother so enjoys life and loves music, talking and laughing with friends and etc. and this was gone.

I immediately took her to her regular doctor who set her up to see an Eye, Ear and Throat specialist.  This specialist saw her and sent her home for 30 days to see if anything would … (16 comments)

One of the many beautiful things about Charlotte, NC are the trees.

You can drive into the city and there are huge oak trees everywhere.  In the summer I love the canopy effect which they provide on certain streets.

Recently I had to have some work done on my live oak trees.  They were definitely getting out of control … (10 comments)

Pink Sky This Morning in Charlotte, NC

This morning the sky was so pink that I had to run and grab my camera.  It was absolutely beautiful.

It made me wonder if the saying is true???

" Pink sky at night.... Sailors delight."
"Pink sky in the morning... Sailors take warning."
                                                                                     Author Unknown

As the day progressed it got darker and colder and is now raining and quite cool.  I guess the sky was right,

I am taking the warning!!
