Another reason to get a home inspection - 03/24/09 01:52 PM
Via Jim Frimmer, San Diego Mission Valley Realtor (Century 21 Award): My mom and I email each other often, and she usually sends me all sorts of humorous stuff about real estate, home inspections, and pets. Some of it is off the wall and can't be republished at a family site like ActiveRain. Today I got an email about the skeleton of a man found inside a chimney of a home up in San Bernardino County where she lives. The home had been vacant for three years after the previous owner died (probably probate problems at a minimum), and the skeleton

Real Estate Marking Strategies: Are you intimidated by higher end clients? - 03/24/09 01:44 PM
Via Maya Bailey (Maya Bailey, Ph.D. ): One of the issues that has surfaced in my career as a business coach over the years is the issue of intimidation. Many clients who come to see me for coaching, want to work with higher end clients. However, what they usually say to me is this “I want to work with higher end clients, but I feel intimidated whenever I’m around them.” I was working with a client a few months ago name Karla, who had this very same issue. I asked her this question, “What self limiting belief do you have about yourself

IS SPELLING IMPORTANT? - 03/24/09 12:43 PM
This is more of a survey than a question and it is directed to just about anyone...whether you are a Real Estate Practitioner, Home Buyer, Home Seller, or None Of The Above. HOW IMPORTANT IS IT... TO YOU ... TO SEE ACCURATE SPELLING IN REAL ESTATE LISTINGS? As a Realtor myself, I know it is sometimes necessary to abbreviate to get the most information in the listing. I am referring to simple spelling errors. Thanks for your thoughts and opinions!

WHAT YOUR HANDSHAKE SAYS ABOUT YOU - 03/24/09 11:27 AM
What Your Handshake Says About You In real estate, we shake a lot of hands. That's why I enjoyed this article that discusses "the different types of handshakes" and what they say about you: ten different types of handshakes. The only problem I have with the article is that all of the ten handshakes described send negative connotations. I will search for a similar article that put the handshake into a positive light. Incidentally, I did not find myself described here. Did you?? 1. Sweaty Palms - When a person is nervous their sympathetic nervous system often becomes overactive, sometimes resulting

FED SHOCKS INVESTORS 15 YEAR JUMBO @ 5% - 03/24/09 10:24 AM
Market Update: Thanks to a Fed announcement that exceeded all expectations, it was a big week for mortgage markets. Mortgage rates ended the week down significantly, falling near the lows reached in January. The stock market and Treasury market also performed well during the week. Following Wednesday's meeting, the Fed shocked investors with an aggressive expansion of its mortgage-backed securities (MBS) purchase program. In addition to the previously announced $500 billion in MBS purchases which began in January, the Fed will buy an additional $750 billion this year, bringing the total to $1.25 trillion. To put this in perspective, $1.25 trillion

With 100s of Homes on the Market in Your Area; How Does Your Home Compete? - 03/24/09 08:41 AM
Via Connie Tebyani, Platinum Home Staging Los Angeles to Santa Barbara (Platinum Home Staging, Inc., Los Angeles to Santa Barbara): NAR Released that over 87% of today's Home Buyers first "shop" the internet, or narrow down their "list" of properties to view in person, solely by how a home is marketed and perceived on the Internet by number and quality of the photographs of the home. But did you also know: That only 10% of Potential Buyers can envision the home's true potential? Is THIS how your home is being viewed on the Internet? Wouldn't you rather it look like this?

Countrywide Execs benefitting from Countrywide Collapse.... - 03/05/09 10:31 PM
Via Larry Bettag - Cherry Creek Mortgage: As reported yesterday. I've modified the report to talk about the absurdity of these so called leaders. Whether they deserve to be or not, Countrywide Financial and its top executives would be on most lists of those who share blame for the nation's economic crisis. After all, the banking behemoth made risky loans to tens of thousands of Americans, helping set off a chain of events that has the economy staggering. So it may come as a surprise that a dozen top Countrywide executives now stand to make millions from the home mortgage mess. The
