home staging richmond va: Before & Afters of a Staging Consultation - Part 2 - 02/05/09 04:50 PM
In my previous blog, Before & Afters of a Staging Consultation - Part 1, I wanted to show the results of a client that took my suggestions from a consultation and implemented them themselves without having me come back to do some final staging and "tweaking".  The point I wanted to make was that, while a staging consultation is a fantastic tool to get your property ready for showing, for most sellers it's hard to see their property the same way a professional stager does.  So while they usually make tremendous improvements to the showing condition of their property, it may … (6 comments)

home staging richmond va: Before & Afters of a Staging Consultation - Part 1 - 02/04/09 10:16 AM
My approach to staging a property that will be occupied while it is on the market always begins with a consultation.  I talked about this in my blog "What a Difference a Consultation Can Make" and truly believe great results are possible!  This is the first step in the staging process and gives the seller so much information that they can do it all themselves, or have me complete the tasks.  Sometimes I get called back to complete the work, sometimes the sellers try to do it all themselves.  Either way, the property always looks better than it did prior to … (17 comments)

home staging richmond va: The Staged House That Never Sold - 01/25/09 09:53 AM
As professional stagers, our job is to help sellers prepare their home to show the best it can when its on the market!  I would venture to say that every successful stager most likely has had an occasional property not sell for some reason or another that staging could not overcome.  So here's a story of one of mine.  I was contacted by an agent to stage her listing last year. The seller was great! Very cooperative and did most of the painting and other prep work I recommended and he kept the property in showing condition.  We came in and … (14 comments)

home staging richmond va: What a Difference a Consultation Can Make! - 01/14/09 03:30 PM
The first step every seller should take BEFORE putting their house on the market is to hire a Professional Home Stager for a staging consultation.  This is the most affordable, cost effective solution to getting your house market ready.  A good home staging professional will provide you with a "roadmap" to prepare your home for sale.  For the DIY seller, the consultation is a valuable resource to guide you in the right direction.  If you are a seller that wants a little more hands on help, a home staging professional will be happy to do the actual work needed to make … (20 comments)

home staging richmond va: Love this Bathroom! - 10/08/07 09:40 PM
I love this bathroom.  I think it's my favorite one I've staged so far.  It's beautiful without any accessories, but adding some decor certainly made it a bit more dramatic.  I wish my own bathroom looked this good...oh wait, it will, as soon as all my decor comes back home!

Check out this really cool powder room too... (Unfortunately my orchids get lost in the mosaic tiles but in person it looks much better - I promise)

home staging richmond va: Staged to Sell - Renovated Home in "the Fan" - 09/27/07 06:54 PM
I recently staged this wonderfully renovated home located in the "Fan" in Richmond, VA.    I love staging these types of homes...they're so charming and fun to do!
This house has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 2,416 Sq.Ft. and is listed for $565,000.  The kitchen is large, sunny and opens to an Eat-in breakfast nook.  It has an island, walk-in panytry, built in bookcase, Maple cabines, granite countertops and stainless appliances. The sunny living room opens to a very large dining room, both with beautiful fireplaces.  There's even an office nook off the hallway.  Upstairs are three bedrooms, each with access to modern bath with … (4 comments)

home staging richmond va: Vacant Home Staging with Inexpensive Rental Furniture - 09/26/07 05:50 PM
I finally did it!  My inventory was low and I needed rental furniture.  After getting over my discomfort of using inexpensive rental furniture that I thought was not the most attractive, I finally took the plunge and tried it out on a townhouse I recently staged.  I have to say, I'm quite pleased with the outcome.  By the time all the decor is brought in, the furniture looks just fine.  And most importantly, the cost was affordable for the sellers and now their formerly vacant townhouse looks warm & cozy!  I will definitely do this again. And best of all, men bring it … (14 comments)
