Most people just know that life in a college town has a certain ambiance about it that sets it apart from the humdrum. There are more entertainment options, a younger mindset, arts, music, plays, sports, political discussions, and educational opportunities for the locals, etc. All put together, a college (or university in Fayetteville's case) adds up to a tremendous economic force - thousands of students who pay tuition and need housing, jobs, and food; salaries for faculty and staff; maintenance and capital improvements; transportation; restaurants and much more. Another “best place” kudo for Arkansas - 12/09/09 08:50 PM
Over the years Fayetteville and NW Arkansas have appeared on many "best places" lists-best place to retire, best place to live, and just last week I reported about the recent Business Week rating of Springdale for the second year in a row as the best place in Arkansas to raise a family. Little Rock and Ft. Smith have recently appeared on some "most affordable" lists as well. But here's one few people think about. Have you given much thought to where to die? Springdale, Arkansas--Best Place to Raise a Family - 12/06/09 08:39 PM
Business Week magazine recently named Springdale as the best place in Arkansas to raise a family for the second year in a row. It's nice to see Springdale recognized as it is frequently overlooked in favor of its better known neighbor--Fayetteville. Springdale has its own charms, not the least of which is affordability. Also the NW Arkansas Naturals AAA minor league baseball team plays in a brand new stadium, and Rodeo of the Ozarks is now in its 66th year. There are parks, parades, an aquatic center, very nice library, good schools and jobs. The city has been proactive in building
