il: Lost My First Buyer Due to Rising IL State Income Taxes - 02/04/11 12:50 PM
I had a buyer lead looking for Orland Park real estate in the $350,000 price range. They were pre-qualified, had registered on my website and had communicated with me. I set them up with an automated MLS search.
After the news of the IL State Income Tax rate rising from 3% to 5%, he sent me an e-mail stating that he would no longer need my services as he was now going to look in Indiana instead. Thankfully, I have an AR referral agent team in Indiana that I was able to refer him to.

Jimmy and I have dined at Prime Time many times over the past 12 months. I've gone there with friends, too.

The Parade
I'm glad my 7 year old granddaughter will be home tomorrow so she won't miss the annual Oak Lawn 4th of July parade, which starts at 1:00. Last year she spent the day with her father and had to miss it. The parade is conveniently located yards from our home. It goes down 95th St. starting at 51st Ave. and going west to 55th Ct.
The parade is always fun with plenty of candy being thrown out by parade participants. You'll see a lot of sports mascots that also "shoot" t-shirts out to the crowd.

In today's slow Buyer's Market, it is interesting to see how many Orland Park homes for sale under $200,000 exist on any given day. If you click the link you'll see that as of today, there are currently 7 Orland Park homes available now priced under $200,000!
These homes range in price from a low of $170,000 for a 3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bathroom ranch style home (all on one level) up to a cute little dollhouse offering 2 bedrooms and 1 bath priced at $199,900. Two are short sale listings and the rest seem to be regular owner sales.

Covington Grade School located in Oak Lawn, IL, held a mock voting program for their students. My 6 year old granddaughter, Elle, attends the school as a first grader. I wasn't sure if all of the children were allowed to "vote" or if it was for the older students. I posted the article in Topix.com, where I am the editor for Oak Lawn, Illinois.

The weather is perfect for this weekend's Centennial Street Fest in Forest Park, IL. The festival starts today and runs through Sunday and will be located at the south grove on Van Buren south of Madison St. The CTA Blue Line's stop is very close and the Green Line will get you into Forest Park, too.
There will be carnival rides, food and musical talent. My husband's band, The New Invaders, will be playing tonight and will be opening for American English. The Ides of March will also be playing this weekend. It is suggested that you bring a chair or blanket. … (0 comments)

When I first started selling real estate the only thing I really knew about Berwyn was that it was part of a gag on The Svengooli TV show started by Jerry G. Bishop as the original Svengooli and since taken over by Rich Koz who started out as the Son of Svengooli until he was promoted to plain old Svengooli. I always thought that one of the Svengooli's was originally from Berwyn, therefore the gag, but I can't find why Berwyn was chosen. That city is Orland Park IL and it is listed as the 45th best city to live in according to Money Magazine's 2006 list. Money Magazine uses many different demographics to create their annual list.
I have to agree since Orland Park is one of the most popular southwest suburbs that I work in. One of my brick and mortar offices is located in this bustling village.
