Doing what I Love on Sunday - Real Estate with Judy

Doing what I Love on Sunday- Real Estate with Judy -Whatcom County Real Estate for Sale

Today is Sunday, I decided to take a day off today. I am a licensedreal estate agent in Whatcom County, WA. My name is Judy Schneider. So I work many weekend and evenings. It was nice to take a day to do what ever I wanted. I got up and dressed and thought, what is it that I would like to do today.

My children are growing up fast and like to do their own thing most of the time. My husband is watching football of course. We always have a big family dinner on Sunday together. That still leaves me with several hours to do what I want.

I guess when you do what you love doing everyday of the week, it is not really work. I love selling real estate. I love all of the wonderful things I have learned, about online marketing too. So today I spent some time freshening things up online. I enjoyed every moment of it.

I don't claim to be a wonderful blogger, just someone who enjoys learning new things. I am not a writer. I am a real estate agentwho loves getting to know people. Finding the home of your dreams makes me very happy. I enjoyed my day off, as funny as that may sound. now I am well rested and ready for a new week. When you are doing what you love, it is not really work.

Just to let you know. Our Sunday Dinner was great and there was plenty of family time and conversation too. My Family is also very important to me.

Home made project- Started it - Finish it - Whatcom County Real Estate for Sale

Thank You Rita Fong for allowing me to re blog this great information! The original post is here Home made project-you started it, you finished it the right way, not your wayI wanted to share it with everyone in my area too. So many homeowners do not understand that they can save themselves a lot of headaches and money by just hiring a professional to do the the improvements on the home!

Many people do not understand how much is involve with doing it yourself, until they have already gotten themselves to far into the project. You are right most home buyers do not want to take on a project and finish it up on their new home. To many of the shows on TV make it look like anyone can do it. You can actually be damaging your home more.

Thank You Rita Fong!

Via Rita Fong (RE/MAX REAL ESTATE TODAY):

With the new $6,500 tax credit for existing home owners till 4/30/10, I can foresee more home owners are more ready and willing to put their home on the market.  Is your house ready for sale, or you need to do some projects first?

Do you like to watch "Weekend Warriors" on HGTV, doesn't it bring the inner contractor side out of you?  All the demolition, design, vision, color matching......just can't wait to start that project you have been putting away, can you?  There is nothing to it, it only takes those home owners one or some weekend/s from start to finish, I can do that.  Or is it really?

Unless you are absolutely 100% sure what you are doing, and how to do it.  When unexpected problems come up, can you solve it yourself?  Taking on a big project requires persistence and serious planning.  If you started it, you need to finish it the right way, not your way, don't leave it half done.  That's what some sellers think when it comes to selling their home:

  • I can knock it off from the sales price and let the buyer to finish it : most of the buyers do not want to pick up any projects after the home owner, if they want to get a fixer upper, they will look for a fixer upper.
  • The buyer probably won't pick up the flaws of my home made projects : if the buyer won't, the home inspector will.  Home inspection is part of the buying process nowadays, buyers are more educated than they used to.
  • The buyer should be glad that I get it done : if it is not done right, the buyer will appreciate more if it was never done at all.  Believe it, I have clients told me multiple times before when I was showing them some houses with these home made projects.  A poor finished home project can be a deal breaker when selling your home.
  • It will save me money if I do it myself : it will probably cost you more money if you don't do it right, you may end up have to pay a professional to come in to repair what you have done.

Especially when it comes to anything electrical, you do need to hire a licensed electrician to do the work, you do not want any potential fire hazard, do you?

It is still majority a buyer's market, buyers rather choose something that they don't need to put money and time into it, if they can buy one at the similar price without the hassels.  Look at it like this, you are the seller right now, but you will be the buyer later, would you like to pick up someone's unfinished home project, or you would rather not?

Heath Care in Bellingham, WA - Whatcom County Real Estate for Sale

I was talking to a man today, with a story to tell today. His story really made me think about Health Care not only in Whatcom County, WA but in our Country! It made me want to call about every doctors bill I receive in the mail. All those little codes they charge for and how easily they can be misunderstood.

This man recently went to the doctor for back pain. He was hurt on the job and scheduled an appointment with a doctor here in Bellingham, WA. He went to the appointment and received treatment for his back and attended the therapy that was prescribed by the doctor. He is now feeling much better.

Then today a month later receives a bill in the mail, for $55.00. He is confused and calls the doctors billing office. They tell him that this is the ammount that is not covered, and that he needs to pay it! He asks what it is for. There is only a code, and he wanted to know what it means! The lady on the phone told him that it was for a quit smoking consultation that the doctor gave him.

This man was very confused, he  told the lady on the phone that he went to the doctor for his back. He said the doctor asked him if he smokes and he answered yes. Then the doctor told him he needed to buy lolly pops instead. The man was furious, and told the lady on the phone that doesn't understand how that could be called a consultation. The lady on the phone then gives him an address and name of another person and tells him to file a complaint!

I found this story to interesting to not share. Can you imagine how many people are paying these little bills not even understanding what all of these codes mean. I can not understand where this doctors ethics are. Is business really that bad for a doctor that they would have to bill someone for this kind of advise. It was not even the advise that this patient was there to discuss, he simply answered her question. Does this encourage people to be honest with their doctors?

I just don't get it! How many of us are being billed during these tough times for services we are not given. I know it is not all doctors. Most doctors in our area care more about thier patients. I just can't believe that some will try tactics of this kind!
