Their parents served our country and paid the ultimate sacrifice that we might be Free to have choices. Choices like which school our children should and can go to. What about them? What about the children that are now in a single parent home due to the terror of war since 9/11? Freedom is never free....it comes with a severely high price.
This is not about any political party discussion. This is simply coming together and taking care of those that have sacrificed so much for you and I. This is not a political discussion about whether we should have armed forces in the Middle East or not. This is not about the cost of oil. Again, this is about children, around 11,000 children that are now in a single parent family home. Sure, there is help by our government. Unfortunately, it is not enough to help see that these children have the opportunity to a higher education should they want that freedom to do so.
These children were not asked by their parents if it was okay by them to go and serve their country. They were not made aware of the pain that they feel. Their everyday routine has now been altered. Family gatherings for Holidays forever changed. So you see, it is not political at all, it's Family.
I personally cannot imagine the pain that these children feel from loosing a parent. What I can imagine, is the financial hardships. Hardships that were brought on by someone that loved their Country so much that they were willing to die for it. We cannot take the heartache away but we can honor their parents by contributing to their children's future.
American Legion Riders put together a Motorcycle Run to raise money for the Legacy Scholarship. I am truly honored and blessed to be able to participate. The Run is 1225 miles stretched over 5 days. Leaving Indianapolis to Minneapolis from August 21 - 25. It is understandable that a majority of you reading this will not be able to join us on the run. We all have different obligations jobs/family/school. These obligations are free choices that we have because of those that have sacrificed their lives to protect our freedom.
