A small room gets a quick fix with an easy canopy. The sheer panels are from IKEA, hung on a cafe rod which is attatched to the ceiling above with simple cup hooks. The total cost of the new canopy is about $8. The look now is serene and sophisitcated, yet it was so easy to accomplish!

Seattle PI names Maple Valley's Brandi Carlile in Year's Top Five - 01/10/08 09:43 AM
Brandi makes Maple Valley proud as one of the Best Artists to Remember of the year 2007 according to the Seattle PI. I first saw Brandi on VH 1 and was excited to see this talented singer/song writer from my own town. According to the PI, she's got Columbia Records behind her and has recently been touring with the VH 1's "You Otta Know" Tour. Congratulations Brandi! New Years at the Needle - Seattle Space Needle 2008 - 01/09/08 12:45 AM
I was thrilled to be surprised with two guest tickets to attend the party at the Space Needle in Seattle on New Years Eve. There was great food, music, and a fun crowd. I did learn the best place to see the fireworks, is not at the party itself, since the fireworks are pretty much below or above the observation deck, and they don't let you outside -- in fact, the whole Needle is on "lock-down" from about 11 PM until after the show.

My Little Town... Maple Valley and the Donut Hole makes Jay Leno "Headlines" During the Writers Guild Strike! - 01/08/08 11:45 PM
Well, even through the controversy of crossing picket lines and snubbing the writer's guild, it seems Jay Leno gets the last laugh, and he found out what I have known for a long time, if you need a chuckle, open up the "Voice of the Valley," where you can read about the theft of a pair of Birkenstocks,  a teenager commandeering her mother's debit card, and of course the Maple Valley Donut Hole. Leno remarked that Maple Valley must be small town because it has meetings about "donut holes" and showed the headline in our local weekly paper.
