Casting Call for Talented Youth!

Well, I love live theater, so I thought I would share the news that there are open auditions for an upcoming production of Disney's High School Musical have been announced by Burien's Hi-Liners.

Auditions are on Saturday September 27th from 12:30 to 4 PM at Lake Burien Presbyterian Church, while performances will be at the Renton Carco Theater, 1717 SE Maple Valley Hwy ~ Renton

Warm up your dance moves and start practicing those foul shots as The Hi-Liners DownStage Center presents Disney's "High School Musical, On Stage!"

From "Wildcat Cheer" to "We're All in This Together" the cast of students, ages 7-18 will bring Disney Channel's smash hit musical to life.

Incorporating elements from "West Side Story", "Romeo and Juliet" and "Grease", this seventy minute one act edition has universal appeal and the timeless message that when we work together, good things happen!

Auditions are September 27, 2008 from 12:30 - 4:00pm at Lake Burien Presbyterian Church, 15003 14th Ave SW, Burien, WA 98166

I went school shopping with my Tahoma High School Senior Today (my how time flies!) and we stop at our favorite local Thai Food Restaraunt in Covington, Washington, called Benjarong, and they have this flat screen tv that keeps flashing "breaking news" breaking news"... "Obama picks running mate"..."awaiting announcement..." and then a lot of talking... I ask my son if he realizes he turns voting age onlly 30 days AFTER the elections, and if he is bummed he cant vote, and he says "yeah... and I would vote for Obama"...Tuning into the news tonight, it looks like Obama is still BIDEN his time! LOL! Too bad the elections werent mid-December Obama, your cell phone text message might get at least one more Washington State vote for you!!!

Celebrities are big spenders in the fashion industry, motor industry and real estate as well. It is not always a success for all of them. Some have created their wealth and have maintained it for a good period, while others have shot to fame and lost the wealth that comes with it within a very short period.

Zillow, a company that performs rankings on real estate for celebrities, stated that Windermere listed a home in a neighborhood called Leschi for sale. It is to be sold for slightly over one million U.S dollars. Jimi Hendrix is said to have lived in this house.

Katherine Heigl, a star in the Grey's Anatomy series, plans to sell her home which is in Los Angeles for a total sum of about 1.7 million U.S dollars. She had bought this lavish house in the year 2006 for about 1.5 million U.S dollars.

Oprah Winfrey estimated her condo in Fisher Island, Florida, to be two million U.S dollars. Her condominium is not as lavish as would be expected of a house that costs that much, though location also counts when determining its worth.

Kiefer Sutherland's Silver Lake house cost him 4.895 million U.S dollars. He transformed the warehouse and made it his home. His taste and superiority in the Real Estate industry clearly indicates his status in society. Kiefer does his recording in his high quality studio from the comfort of his home.

Sylvester Stallone, a Beverly Hills inhabitant, purchased two mansions in an area called Thousand Oaks. One was estimated at 5.5 million U.S dollars while the other was projected to be 1.7 million U.S dollars.

Maple Valley, Wa hosts the West Seattle Big Band at Lake Wilderness

Last week's Music in the Park event at Lake Wilderness drew members of the community together for some fun picnicking, swinging and dancing under the tall pines against the beautiful backdrop of Lake Wilderness.

The West Seattle Big Band played old favorites and new revivals, like Bare Necessities, and Jump n Jive. The kids were the first to start dancing around the grass, parents and grandparents were soon to follow!

Real Estate's Secret Weapon... Ex-Cop McNinch Springs Into Action!

This past week I have been assisting my mentor and Keller Williams Team member, Gary McNinch, in helping a lovely young couple make an offer on a home in the Renton Highlands area. All in all, this Real Estate transaction has gone fairly smoothly, and today we were on our way to meet our homeowners to be at what is hopefully their "home-to-be" for a buyer's inspection.

So McNinch and I hop in my red PT Cruiser and head up Sunset Boulevard when all of a sudden, just about 30 ft in front of us, a truck in the oncoming traffic swerves into our lane at about 35 miles an hour and hits the truck right in front of us. The crash is big, the radiator burst fluid everywhere and the big truck is completely rebounding back from the hit -- and is totally smashed. No sooner had I hit the brakes when Ex-cop McNinch is out the door of the car saying "hit the hazzards" and before I could even find the button -- he's up with the drivers of both vehicles -- checking out the scene. Wow! A Realtor's job IS exciting!

Ok, it gets better... the cops show up real quick, and when they do -- the dude in the truck that caused the accident is trying to flee the scene -- and McNinch is reaching for his cuffs! Only, he's a realtor now, and I think his "quickest draw" is a business card nowadays -- but anyways, McNinch weighs taking the guy down (who really isnt too quick) or not --- and goes with not -- and signals the cops in to take over from there, who catch up with the guy, cuff him, and put him on a stretcher. Man, the guy would have to be in pain... Gary said the steering wheel was all mangled!

I did think to take at least one picture... wish I had got the whole thing! Anyways, it was real exciting to see Gary in action! And can I just say --- I think the Renton Cops are super friendly! And fast!

We did make it to the inspection -- and the best part is, our super good inspector gave the home high marks -- the home buyers are thrilled, why, it was a thrilling day, all around... and in the end, I have to say we were all blessed that no one was seriously injured, and it really was a good day!

The BCC Art program hosts ongoing exhibits in the Student Art Gallery located above the Campus Library. The Spring Exhibit, featuring the best of student's work from the quarter just wrapped up. I would like to share some work, featured on the marketing and promotional materials.

My favorite BCC student artist? My daughter Michelle. Here is her work, which was featured on the promotional materials and on the BCC gallery website.

Bellevue Community College is a mutlti-cultural college located on the Eastside and is made up of about 65% of students from the Bellevue, Issaquah, Mercer Island, Skykomish, and Snoqualmie Valley School districts. BCC runs certificated programs, University Credits, and Running Start for Highschool Juniors and Seniors.
