Chef Angela Backus Anderson leased the long-time "Caruso's Restaurant" building in order to fulfill her lifelong dream, opening her own fine dining restaurant and catering. Our Interior Redesign and Staging company, Roomspinners, was brought in to help make the older, somewhat dilapidated decor transform into a "Fine Dining" look... and boy was our work cut out for us!

Yesterday, in Seattle, was the BIG 1 Year Anniversary Party for Active Rain, and when I heard it was taking place in my own back yard (Well, ok, Magnolia is a little bit of a drive from Maple Valley although MapQuest says 35 minutes) -- I knew I couldn't miss it! The day was gorgeous! We couldn't have asked for better weather, in fact, it was so sunny and warm, one might have asked Pacific Northwest Rainmaker, Matt Heaton, "Now why is it called Active RAIN again?"

Staging starts at the front curb. How does the house look? I mean, people do simply just drive by sometimes! The curb appeal of the home is so important, and every little detail paints an overall impression in the mind of the home buyer. One of the most problematic features can be the outdated lighting that is on the front of the house. Weathered, dingy or dated lighting can make the entire house look like Boo Radley's!

When staging the homeowners own furnishings, lightening the look is great way to engage the emotions of a home buyer. Before, the heavy bedspread and pillows have a lot of personality with their rich colors, but to show a home on the market, fresh and inviting is the look we want. A quick edit goes a long way, and the bedspread is reversed and used as a throw, displaying the solid color of crimson red, which is also placed throught the Master Bedroom and Master Bathroom to create an inviting color scheme in contrast to the white chenille, maintaining the look of freshness.
