CNN Visits The Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island, Georgia.
The Georgia Sea Turtle Center designed for sea turtle rehabilitation, research and education on sea turtles opened in June 2007 on Jekyll Island, Georgia.
The Center is very much like an emergency room and rehabilitation center for injured and sick turtles in addition to scientific research. You get to see the various patients that are in rehabilitation at the Sea Turtle Center and find out about their injuries and illnesses.

Jekyll Island is one of the barrier islands off the coast of Georgia referred to as one of "The Golden Isles of Georgia".
Jekyll Island is 7 miles long and 1 1/2 miles wide offering 4,400 acres of upland and 8 miles of beaches as well as 20 miles of hiking trails.
Jekyll Island is a great place for birdwatchers as it is known as a resting place for migrating birds.

For 15 years, SeaJays Waterfront Cafe and Pub has been available for casual waterfront dining at the Jekyll Island Marina. Eating on the outside decks enjoying the waterviews at the marina makes this an memorable experience.
One of my husband's favorite is the low country boil buffet available in the evening.
SeaJays is opens daily at 11:00 a.m. and serves lunch and dinner. Located just north of the Tideland's Nature Center overlooking the Jekyll Island Marina, SeaJays offers good food and great memories.

On the north end of Jekyll Island, Georgia, you will find one of only two remaining Georgia pre-revolutionary structures made of tabby. Originally the house was the residence of Major William Horton, one of General James Oglethorpe's most trusted military aides.
Major Horton was the first English resident of Jekyll Island. His two story home was built on the north end of Jekyll Island along with a barn. What a great New Year's Eve spent touring the 240 acre historic district of Jekyll Island while learning about our local history as well as the history of Chritmas Traditions throughout the ages. Jekyll Island's staff does a great job of showing off their historic district while educating you.

Today was the last day for the Holiday Island Tour on Jekyll Island here in Brunswick and the Golden Isles of Georgia. And the last Holiday Island tour was today at 3:00 - I managed to arrive for the 1:00 tour - this is well within a deadline for me.

While slipping on my sandals to go to work today, I think of those who are shoveling snow. Being raised in South Georgia and my only primary resident addresses being in California and south Georgia, the only white flurries I look is the sand flurries on the dunes of Jekyll Island this time of year.
There is so much to do this time of year and while unhindered by the weather, you can walk the beach,jog on the beach, lay on the beach, walk your dog on the beach, visit historical sites such as Christ Church and Christ Church Cemetery, … (18 comments)

While everyone else was watching football on Sunday afternoon, my husband and and I decided we needed some exercise and to get outdoors. It is still beautiful and temperature in the 60's and 70's each day even this close to Thanksgiving in our subtropical climate of south Georgia.
We choose bike riding on the nature trails and bike paths on Jekyll Island. It was a beautiful trip over the Sidney Lanier Bridge. The views from the bridge alone are worth the trip over it to the Jekyll Island causeway.
