You can hardly get into some of the shops but that is part of the fun. It truly gets me into the spirit of Christmas. I love to see the people dressed up sitting in the windows of store fronts in old-fashion cloths, telling stories, weaving baskets, knitting, sipping tea etc..

I love this time of the year when the weather is still not too cold but winter is coming. I have many things to be grateful for this year and its time to reflect on the year that has just flew by me. We have a tradition at our house that I cook for Thanksgiving and Mom does Christmas dinner. We don't have a very big family, its just the three of us but we carry on just like any other big family would. We have one other family member come for Christmas and that is Joe's sister. Macon County NC Delays revaluation of real property for two years! - 11/22/09 03:00 PM
On the cover of The Franklin Press the county tax assessor announce that Macon County will postpone the county's revaluation of real property until 2013. It is being pushed back because of depressed sales and market instability due to economic rescission. They said they have to give the market time to stabilize and establish where the market is.
If they did proceed with the 2011 tax revaluation land developers and land speculators would probably see a lowering of their tax liability but it would be picked up by the average residential home owner if they did lower the values. They have (2 comments)

Senate Clears Homebuyer Tax Credit Extension; May Pass as Early as This Week - 11/05/09 09:07 AM
After delaying it for two weeks it finally passed by the Senate. It passed by an overwhelming 85 to 2 roll call vote! If Obama signs it this week it will extend it to April 30th. of next year. Now anyone that was cutting it close will not have to worry about beating the Nov. 30 deadline. The also will have an increase for maximum allowed income. It has increase $55,000 so now a couple can make up to $225,000.
A new $6,500 maximum credit would also be available to move-up homeowners who have lived in their current residence for (1 comments)

I know they were just Turkeys but they were from another county and I couldn't resisit. I loved the leaves all over the ground from this tree, it was a beautiful site.
It was a rainy day at Lake Lure, but it didn't phase us one bit. We enjoyed ever rain drop and peak of sunshine now and then. We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place. This is why I feel like I am on vacation all the time. Lake Lure is a man made lake only about 2.5 hours from my house. Chimney (1 comments)

Be sure to stop in and see the latest hand thrown pottery by Mike and the Artwork of Christy. ~ Barber Pottery ~ Our stoneware is handcrafted in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina by Mike and Christy Barber. Every piece is wheel thrown by Mike before being hand carved by Christy. Finally, each piece is finished by spraying multiple layers of glaze before being fired to over 2100 degrees.

Thought I would share some Fall pictures here in Fanklin, NC It was a lot of fun watching all the children dress up for Halloween and get ready for the famous pumpkin roll contest. Held this year, October 23 & 24 – It was the 13th Annual Pumpkin Fest - Hayrides were at East Franklin Shopping Center from 3pm - 6pm, After School Treats for the kids in East Franklin Shopping Center from 3pm - 5pm. On Saturday, 10/25 they had the Street festival along Main Street with crafters, Famous Pumpkin Roll, Live Music all day, Pie Eating Contest, Games, (6 comments)
