Slidell's Night Parade - 01/31/08 05:41 PM
The krewe of Selene will parade tomorrow night (Friday) in Slidell.  This is the only night parade in Slidell.  The parade is an all womens krewe and the best in Slidell as far as I am concerned.  The weather will be chilly.  Dress the little ones up nice and warm.  Come out and have a good time.  The parade will start at Fritchie Park and ends at Rouses on Gause Boulevard. … (1 comments)

The Economy - 01/31/08 05:01 PM
What is the economy doing?  Where is it going?  Simply, I don't know.  I don't think any one really knows. this includes our bigwigs in Washington and our universities.  However, i do think that something really scared the Federal Reserve into making two rate cuts this month when inflation is showing signs of life.  I think we will find out later this year what it was. But for now I don't.  Just wondering if anybody else had and ideas? … (3 comments)

So Far So Good - 01/30/08 08:06 PM
I managed to close two deals this month with a third closing hopefully next week.  Good news I seem to have plenty of prospects.  Some of them also sound serious.  You know what I mean.  I think the lower interest rates will help stimulate some buying.  Lower rates may also stabilize the existing home prices.  Well, I will let you know how February goes. … (8 comments)

Interest rates. - 01/29/08 02:59 PM
I was hoping to hear from you mortgage guys about interest rates.  I am actually considering refinancing my property this year if interest rates become attractive enough.  Should the Federal Reserve cut rates tomorrow as anticipated, do you think the rates will fall further?  I realize they are not directly tied together but they do tend to mimic one another. … (4 comments)

Ghost Writers - 01/26/08 03:48 PM
This was a new term to me.  I always assumed we were writing our own blogs.  Talking to my broker enlightened me.  Seems some of our members may be using so called ghost writers.  Are you one of them.  You rather pay someone to do this than you.  Are you that lazy?  Maybe that is why some look so professional.  Just remember the personality you put in writing isn't you when someone meets with you. … (12 comments)

Welcome Home - 01/26/08 10:46 AM
Congratulation's to Bridget and her daughter Jaime on the purchase of their new home.  This is a small but charming house.  This home was completely redone after Katrina.  With some plants and fertilizers the yard will look as good as the inside in the coming year.  Once again I hope they enjoy the home as much as I enjoyed working with her. … (1 comments)

Tax Rebate - 01/24/08 01:41 PM
Wow a whole 1200 dollars.  Thanks, must have been hard giving me some of my money back that I worked for.  Do you realize what the politicians just admitted?  From both sides?  Taxes do hurt you and I.  We must give some back so you can spend it.  Great how about cutting the gasoline tax, property taxes, social insecurity tax and so on.  I think we have about as much chance as a snowball in, well you know where. … (4 comments)

Slidell Crime Rates - 01/23/08 09:48 AM
I was pleased to read the new crime statistics for Slidell LA released yesterday.  All violent crimes decreased from the year before.  We had zero murders for the year, not bad considering how close we live to New Orleans.  The only increase was in thefts, attributed to stealing gas.  Go figure.  I live in Eagle Point subdivision and I feel safe at all times of the day.  Any one looking to buy in Slidell should feel comfortable about their safety. … (1 comments)

When The Other Shoe Drops - 01/21/08 08:01 AM
I have been reading a lot about the financial markets lately.  More so than usual.  We have been consumed with the subprime debt and default rate.  We have seen the stocks of Countrywide, etc. get pounded.  The way I understand it, we haven't seen anything yet.  The commercial debt that will be downgraded to junk this year will dwarf the mortgage crisis.  I can tell you the rest of the world is on eggshells.  I once read when America catches a cold the world gets pneumonia. … (5 comments)

Krewe of Bilge reschedules - 01/20/08 12:12 PM
Just wanted to let those who might be interested that the krewe of bilge has rescheduled their parade for next Saturday.  They were going to parade through Eden Isles yesterday but cancelled due to inclement weather.  They start at the marina and end at the dock.  Plenty of fun to be had. … (1 comments)

I am hosting an open house this Sunday from 2-4 p.m.  This is really a nice house priced to sell.  Come and see this one with the backyard vies.  You can watch pelicans, geese and ducks from the back step.  You can even catch bass from the golf course lagoon the home overlooks.  I don't believe one can find a better bargain in the area.

Rate Cuts??????????? - 01/16/08 04:35 PM
I think our chances for any further interest rate cuts are looking rather slim.  With the report that inflation is the highest its been in seventeen years.  This should become the Feds first priority.combating inflation.  Its rather hard to drop rates and spark the economy without stoking inflation further.  Historically the current rates are still good.  Gone for now I fear are the four percent rates of the past.

Thanks Active Rain - 01/14/08 04:41 PM
My first confirmed lead from active rain closed today.  The Riveras were living in Bolivia for the past two years.  They found me on a localism add that I had placed.  They didn't buy the one I advertised.  Instead they are now the proud owners of a beautiful waterfront home in Clipper Estates, Slidell. … (38 comments)

Another rough year 2008 - 01/13/08 09:40 AM
Looks like the economy will be in the trough for this year.  Real estate along with it.  Some of us will do very well, while most will just hang on.  We will have to work harder than before to make a living.  I for one am ready.  I have my game plan written down and am moving forward.  Don't worry it's an election year.  The politicians will fix everything.  YEA RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hobby Realtors - 01/11/08 09:36 PM
Just to add on to what my broker Frank Rubi ranted about in his blog today.  I just wonder how many out there are doing this for something to do.  Occasionally you will make some spending money I guess.
http://activerain.com/blogsview/335445/Are-you-a-Pretender  I think a lot of so-called Realtors need to read his post.  Remember someone else is depending on you to sell his or hers property.

Delinquent Loans - 01/09/08 01:11 PM
I know everyone is aware of Countrywides problems.  Seems they are getting worse.  The delinquent loans increased last quarter to 6.9%  This is up from 4.6%.  This is a huge number.  What were the credit history's of the people they loaned money.  Now I know why the stock price is just above junk. … (2 comments)

Inspections - 01/08/08 12:55 PM
One thing I have noticed in the last year from sellers.  It seems they are more willing to fix things that are found in inspections.  Maybe the news about the soft market has them in this mindset.  My last three requests were complied with one hundred percent.  Has any one else noticed this? … (2 comments)

Tigers Rule - 01/07/08 11:16 PM
Once again the SEC had to show who really is the best.  I never had a doubt.  I hate to call my cousin in Ohio to rub it in, but what can I do.  We kicked their ^&%#&.  No doubt.  When are these guys going to understand we don't loose.  Give up you guy's we rule. … (4 comments)

Palm Trees Ouch - 01/07/08 01:26 PM
Be careful what you volunteer for when working with clients.  I have a listing that I have been trying to sell for some time.  The owner is a single lady and lives with her mother.  I have known this lady for over twenty five years now.  I have been trying to get her to prune this palm that blocked the front of the house.  She would only do a little bit.  Finally after my insistence she said I could do it if I thought it would help sell the house.  So I accepted the deed.
I had my chainsaw, long-sleeve shirt and … (2 comments)

Remember Stagflation - 01/06/08 10:54 AM
Thats right stagflation.  I remember this word from the 1970's when Carter was president.  We had run away inflation and zero or negative economic growth.  The problem here for the Federal Reserve is they can't cut interest rates to spark growth because inflation would jump even higher.  Nothing robs spending power like inflation.  We have to back the Fed to fight inflation at all costs.  Eventually growth will take over again, and home sales will be brisk. … (3 comments)

BCS Championship - 01/05/08 05:50 PM
I was driving around New Orleans this afternoon and couldn't miss the large number of LSU and Ohio State fans.  Looks like everybody is having a good time.  The weather cooperated for this event.  It must have been seventy degrees today.  I believe tomorrow will be just as good.  I hope the Ohio State fans enjoy the weather, because they sure won't enjoy the game.  GO TIGERS. … (8 comments)

Bobby Jindal - 01/04/08 08:58 PM
I wrote yesterday about Louisiana governor elect.  He gets inaugurated later this month.  Someone asked me what I would like to see from him.  Well I have thought about it.
1.Slow the growth in state spending.  Louisiana budget this year is over 29 Billion dollars.
2.Reduce the rate of single mothers.  Stop rewarding irresponsibility.
3.Crack down on the corruption in New Orleans and statewide.
4.Rebuild the coastline.
5.Improve the public education system, especially in New Orleans.
6.Reduce taxes for business to come here in the first place.
7.Induce more insurers to come into the state.
This is a short list, I will have more later on.  All of these … (3 comments)

Louisiana's New Governor - 01/03/08 07:59 PM
This month Louisiana's governor elect will be sworn into office.  His name is Bobby Jindal.  He was born in Louisiana of Indian parents.  He was recently the U.S. Representative of the First District.  He is a Republican and a devout Catholic.  I believe he will be the best thing Louisiana has ever had in this office.  If he can't get things done, I am outta here. … (4 comments)

Back To Work - 01/02/08 05:37 PM
Holidays are over thank goodness.  I promptly went back to work and woke up an agent about eight-thirty this morning.  I finally received my answer from her about one o'clock.  I guess she was moving kind of slow.  Seems I never really took time off.  I was busier this December than the last six months of the year.  I sure will be glad when they close.  Look forward to more blogs later this week. … (6 comments)

4) Troop pullout begins in Iraq
5) Stock market goes nowhere.
6) Dallas wins Super Bowl
7) Realtors will have to work hard again for sales.
