Holiday Hangover - 11/29/08 08:20 AM
That's what I have. At least I am blaming it on this. I just don't feel like doing anything except watching television and being lazy. Any one else in this mood? I hope I don't stay like this for the rest of the year. Of course the way home sales are going I could. I do have one commercial deal I hope to wrap up in the next two weeks. This deal has been in the works since February thanks to permit hold ups and red tape.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone - 11/26/08 04:21 PM
I am aware everyone is posting the same thing. But I mean this to everyone who takes the time to read this blog. I am thankful for my family, my health and for living in the greatest country in the world bar none. Even in this economy our standard of living is second to none. Don't eat to much guys. Watch some football over the next few days and relax.

Mortgage Rates - 11/25/08 01:36 PM
Mortgage rates have posted their biggest one day decline ever. I sure hope this sticks. This would be a big help to everyone involved in the real estate market. I don't know if we would see an uptick in home prices but the sales should pick up some. Happy Thanksgiving every one.

Fire Kills Father and Son - 11/24/08 02:32 PM
Yesterday in Covington Louisiana a father and son perished in a house fire. There were no smoke detectors in the home. Over 96 people have died in Louisiana this year from house fires. The overwhelming majority of these also didn't have smoke detectors. New building codes require the new homes to have smoke detectors wired into the house. The older homes only will have battery operated ones. My home in Slidell has five alone. People if you live in an older home spend a little money and buy at least two smoke detectors for your loved ones. I don't like reading

Free Kick - 11/23/08 07:35 PM
Did any one see that today in the Giants and Cardinals game today? I have been watching football for years now and never knew this rule existed. The offense can try a kick at a field goal with a holder. The defense can return it like a kickoff if it's no good. The last time it was tried was 1968 by the Bears. Judging by the results today it will be another 40 years before it's tried again. I hope the Saints show up Monday night. By the way I don't know if the Bears made it or not.

Who Really is Number One? - 11/22/08 12:14 PM
I hear numerous radio adds from the larger national companies on who is number one. RE/MAX states no one sells more real estate then them. Century 21 says they are number one in Louisiana and Coldwell Banker has something real similar. I guess they are number one in something just not clear what it is. Kind of like the First Baptist Church. Isn't somebody the Second Baptist Church? LOL

Just How Much Do You Want To Spend??? - 11/22/08 12:10 PM
On the Internet that is. In this economy of decaying returns one has to ration his or her advertising budget. I prefer to use as many free sites as possible. Among these are active rain, freesapce, myspace and point2point. I may not have the prettiest site but I have procured several leads with them. I have closed three sale to date. Can anyone justify to me or prove to me that an expensive website generates more closings?

Gift Cards Anyone - 11/18/08 02:07 PM
From a friend of mine. Heads up if you tend to give gift cards around the holidays, you need to be careful that the cards will be honored after the holidays. Stores that are planning to close after Christmas are still selling the cards through the holidays even though the cards will be worthless January 1. There is no law preventing them from doing this. On the contrary, it is referred to as 'Bankruptcy Planning'. Below is a partial list of stores that you need to be cautious about. Circuit City (filed Chapter 11) Ann Taylor- 117 stores nationwide closing Lane

Pensacola Seafood - 11/17/08 03:39 PM
I was in Pensacola, Florida this weekend watching my daughters soccer team compete in the NCAA Tournament. After their win Friday the coach was nice enough to let her go eat dinner with us. We decided to eat seafood at a local restaurant in town. This placed was packed, so i figured it was good. Man was i disappointed. The seafood was terrible by New Orleans standards. The shrimp and fish were fried with so much cornmeal you thought you were eating cornbread. I guess we are spoiled. Anyone coming to New Orleans area contact me and I will give you some

Slidell Flood Rates Reduced - 11/12/08 05:00 PM
Good news Slidell residents. Flood insurance rates are going down. Thanks to efforts by Slidell city government improving drainage in our area. Our zone class is going down from a nine to an eight. Ten being the worst. This should result in a reduction of about ten percent a year. I will take whatever I can get.

Help is On The Way - 11/11/08 05:35 PM
How many times have I heard that this past two months? I don't have very much faith in FannieMae or FeddieMac. I don't have much faith in the Government. Seems to me everything they get involved in gets screwed up down the road. I do however have faith in me. I know the harder (translate more time) I work the better I will be. The only one who holds us back in this industry is yourself. Turn off the TV and get motivated. I know things are quiet but many agents are making a killing still.

Property Taxes St Tammany - 11/07/08 12:13 PM
Seems most of the taxing boards in St. Tammanywill roll back their millage to help compensate for increased property tax rolls. The school board and parish government would not seek any increase in revenue. The school board alone is over fifty percent. The fire districts in Covington and Lacombe indicated they would seek an increase. Also the First fire district in Slidell would seek an increase. I don't know for sure if Eagle Point Subdivision falls within the first district. None of the boards would say how much they would seek. I hope they don't get too greedy.
