Seems the appraisal company chosen to perform the appraisal didn't have access to the property. They gave me a one day notice and I already had appointments for the time they were coming. Seems they aren't willing to pay for the e-key. What's this cost about $250 a year? So since you are a cheapskate I need to come over and let you in? Well when it's convenient to me. Spring fishing in lake Pontchartrain in Slidell Louisiana is now in full swing. My dad and I caught these today trolling the trestles. This trout run will last until early June. We were using the B-2 squid hot pink and chartreuse green. The pink one was the lure of choice.
Anyone can access the trestles launching at the old Tites Landing at the foot of the Highway 11 bridge in Slidell. I urge you to use caution since it has been closed since the storm. Also be patient since some fisherman aren't as well organized as you.

I know I'm not the first active rainer to blog on this subject. I just wanted to show you the difference. The first photo is with the regular camera lens focused as far back as possible.

The second is with the wide angle lens I purchased this week and taken from the exact same spot. Can you see the difference?

Eagle Point Subdivision in Slidell Louisiana is a medium priced neigborhood located off Spartan Drive. It also wasn't immune to the housing slowdown. Here are the following numbers.
2007 Eleven Homes Sold for an average price of $121 per square foot.
The range was a high of $295,900 to a low of $210,000
2008 Five Homes Sold for an average price of $115 per square foot.
The range was a high of $240,000 and a low of $206,000
Currently there are five active listings ranging from $268,000 to $217,000. There are none under escrow or contract.

I haven't blogged in over a week. I have been quite busy. You know the good kind of busy. Saturday was spent driving a couple from Indiana around New Orleans. I got this referral from an active rain agent last month. The husband has been offered the Dean of Music at Loyola University. I really enjoyed their company.

I don't know how many of my fellow citizens received or saw their 2008 property tax bill this year. I live in St. Tammany and I assure you mine went up 300% this year. Before hurricane Katrina I paid a little over $800. My new bill is now over $2200. In this economy where every nickel counts the greedy hand of government wants more of my hard earned dollars.
The homestead exemption for Louisiana is currently $75,000. If they had indexed this to inflation it would be around $150,000. So whats happening is an unfair burden is falling on the working people. My parents … (6 comments)

My wife was cleaning some old pictures out of the computer yesterday when she ran across this video of our dog. She is a Rhodesian Ridgeback. We got her from the pound. Great dog. I have given this some thought, not much but some. What will happen next year? Good question.
Interest rates will fall further. Housing prices will fall further in most areas. Stock market will rally at first and then retest lows of 2008. One of the Big Three automakers will go bankrupt. Our new president will have a tough time raising tax rates. Also he will find it much harder to pull out of Iraq than he thinks. I believe he is just now learning the real truth about our enemies. There are 64 parishes in Louisiana. St. Tammany pays the second highest property taxes in the state. We pay around 170 mils. I personally in Eagle Point pay 170 mills and 31 mills to the city of Slidell. People and residents of Slidell and St. Tammany I urge you to vote against all property taxes even re-newels in the future. This is the only way we are going to gain control of your money. The New Orleans local MLS board extended their deadline for member dues this week. Last Sunday was supposed to be the last day to avoid a late fee. You know things must be bad. I really didn't like it very much. Hit my head on it all the time. Here are some photos of my dads home who lives on Carr Drive in Slidell Louisiana near Lake Pontchartrain. This home had water underneath for Katrina but was high and dry inside.

Considering the market having only two listings not sold isn't to shabby. I really blame myself. I let the sellers set the price higher than I thought it should be. You know how many sellers think their home is the one. I let them do it because they were only a small amount above what I thought was a good price. But what happened in the next two or three months the prices fell 5-10% and they were then way to high. Finally they lowered the price but they were in a catch up mode the rest of the Summer. In little ole St. Francisville Louisiana home of the Myrtles plantation. Rated as one of the most haunted in the country. This coming weekend there will be a program on hummingbird banding and garden tours. I have been through this area many times. This is a lovely place to visit. Only about two and a half hours from Slidell LA. Take your family or just your significant other and spend some time up there. You won't regret it.
