Fall is by far my favorite time of the year in Southeastern Louisiana. The weather is finally cooling down after a long hot summer and the threat of hurricanes season is also behind us. Plus the fishing will only get better now through January. Also it's football season and my LSU Tigers are ranked number 1 and the Saints aren't too shabby either.
I decided to share a picture of one of several redfish we caught yesterday. Man what a day to be alive and on the water. These fish were caught in the marsh near the Pearl River.

Yep I was a bad boy today. Left the office and phone behind today for a little R & R. The weather was nothing but sunshine and about 60 degrees. Drop dead gorgeous. I loaded up the boat picked up a buddy of mine and off we went.
We arrived around 1 p.m. and the bite was non stop. We caught a two man limit (50) by three o'clock. I am glad we got back early so we could clean them and eat some for dinner tonight. This is the only way my wife will let me go again.

I think I know what it's like to live in Seattle now. Since my wife and I moved into our new house in October I think it has rained every three or four days. I mean really rained. By the time the rain ends tonight it should be the wettest month in recorded history in the New Orleans area ever. This goes back well over one hundred years.
By December 15 we had over 24 inches of rain. The record I believe was around 20 inches. We should shatter that.

St Tammany Parish is located on the northshore of lake pontchartrain, north of New Orleans and Jefferson Parish. The Eastern part of the parish consist's of the city of Slidell and Pearl River. The Western side consist's of Mandeville, Covington and Madisonville. The town of Lacombe is in the middle. I really don't know if they are considered west or east.

Just wondering if any states have started using Chinese Drywall disclosures yet. I know Louisiana hasn't as of yet, but I'm sure it is coming. I haven't encountered this problem myself. I would love to hear your horror stories on this and what didyou do to remedy the situation.

I watched the Sean Hannity show last night for about ten minutes. In this one segment it seems the $4500 rebate the buyers are receiving is taxable. This amount (4500) is counted as regular income. I wonder how many of these knew this. Now not only do most have a car note now, they most likely have a tax liability they weren't counting on. I think a better name would have been cash for suckers.

This is one of the bills that our state legislature is considering. The current exemption is $75,000 and they want to raise it to $150,000. This would be the approximate amount if the exemption had been indexed to inflation over the years. The $75,000 has been in place since 1982, while home values have risen dramatically. Even after the past two years, home values are much higher.
Of course this means millions of dollars to our state and local governments. You know there is plenty of opposition to this bill. I think there is plenty of fat to cut from local … (4 comments)

This Saturday, (tomorrow), the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra is performing at the amphitheater in Slidell'sHeritage Park. The concert begins at 7 p.m.. Admission is free. I suggest any one interested to get there early. Some of the music played will include Tchaikovsky's Waltz from Sleeping Beauty, Khachaturian's Sabre Dance and Brahm's Hungarian Dance No. 5.
Before the concert there will be an Art Walk from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Don't forget you lawn chairs, food, drinks and anything else needed to enjoy this show.

It's springtime for sure. The bottlebrush trees are in full bloom. My azaleas are bright and pink along with my Amarillo's and numerous other plants I forget or never knew the name.
It's been a long bitter cold winter this year. Especially for the Midwest and the Northeast. More so than usual. Remember Farmers Almanac predicted a colder than normal winter. I would say they got that one right. My favorite time of the year is still the Fall. Football and cooler weather after a long hot summer in the south.

Good news Slidell residents. Flood insurance rates are going down. Thanks to efforts by Slidell city government improving drainage in our area. Our zone class is going down from a nine to an eight. Ten being the worst. This should result in a reduction of about ten percent a year. I will take whatever I can get.
