best home inspector in ohio: New Constuction Inspector in Ohio - 07/16/10 10:31 AM
Do you have to be certified to do an inspection on a new construction home?
Well it depends. There is nothing that says that you can not walk around a home and give your opinion on how it is built (workmanship).
The question is do you want to know if it is built (code) properly. Then the answer is yes if you want all the components inspected.
One example of having to be certified would be inspecting the electrical system.

Building

Plumbing

best home inspector in ohio: Important electric info - No homeowner repairs - 01/13/10 10:55 AM
Here is another reason why you should not let the homeowners make repairs to a home that they are selling.
This is the second book(s) that has been recalled because it has BAD electrical information in it.
Yes many states allow you to do your OWN wiring but you should never let this happen to your buyers.
Here is the book: Oxmoor House on Friday recalled nearly 1 million home improvement books

best home inspector in ohio: Should Ohio license Home Inspectors? - 12/03/09 04:04 PM
I have been following attempts to regulate the Home Inspection industry since 1999. Still we have no standards here in Ohio.
Anyone involved in real estate knows that this is a problem. We all have seen deals 'killed' because of bad home inspections.
I believe in testing for this industry.
Can anyone tell me why it is so hard to have this industry regulated?
Who is stopping this?
For those of you who have regulations in your state did it help regulating Home Inspectors? I would like your thoughts.

best home inspector in ohio: Is a new construction Home Inspection necessary? - 12/02/09 10:17 PM
When a buyer asks your opinion on whether they should have a home inspection on a ‘new’ home do you say yes?
Maybe you should reconsider this advice.
Would it be fair to say that your client is expecting that the inspector is there to verify that the home has been properly constructed? If the answer is yes then what your client really wants (needs) is a ‘code’ inspection not a home inspection.
Home Inspectors do not do code inspections, just ask them.
Every home in Ohio is required to be built to The 2006 Residential Code of Ohio (RCO). If … (6 comments)

best home inspector in ohio: Are you buying a new construction home? - 11/27/09 07:19 PM
If so don't you want it inspected by someone who is certified to inspect every component to insure that it is properly installed?  Home Inspectors are not but we are. In fact there are some components that they are not allowed (prohibited) to inspect. Check our State certifications against those have received theirs via the Internet. http://www.yourhomesok.com/why_us.htm  You need to hire the best. 614-214-1487
There is a difference between taking proctored tests and receiving hand-out certifications.

best home inspector in ohio: You know too much! - 11/23/09 08:57 AM
Had a Realtor tell me that the reason that she would not use me is because I know too much and would find too many problems with the house.
I guess that this is the only profession where you are penalized for being the best.
Sad but true. I wonder who her client would want inspecting their home? Her hand picked inspector or one that is looking out for their interests.

best home inspector in ohio: Doing the math! Make Money! - 10/17/09 08:15 PM
I decided to charge for looking at my profile.
This is my reason why.
"Your profile has been viewed 5390 times." As of 17 Oct. 2009.
If I charged just $10.00 per view that would have made me $53,900.00.
Not to bad for just pecking on the computer.
Just think how much that I would have made if they paid me my hourly rate?
