Do you have to be certified to do an inspection on a new construction home?
Well it depends. There is nothing that says that you can not walk around a home and give your opinion on how it is built (workmanship).
The question is do you want to know if it is built (code) properly. Then the answer is yes if you want all the components inspected.
One example of having to be certified would be inspecting the electrical system.

Many individuals claim to know how to inspect a new home's construction.
When you recommend someone to inspect your clients new home do you ask if they are qualified to do so?
Well I can PROVE that I am qualified to do so. Tested by The State of Ohio.
If this is important to your credibility then contact me. If not then continue to recommend less qualified companies.

Problems with your new home? 
Did you buy a new home and not have it inspected? Or did you hire a Home Inspector or use one that your Realtor recommended, and he missed a lot of new construction defects. Maybe before it is too late you should hire a new home construction expert to look at your home.

Most Realtors and home buyers do not know that many areas of Ohio have NO inspections when building a new home. This means no one checks the builder to see if the home is built properly.

If not you may want to consider us to look at your new home. We are one of the few companies in Ohio quailified to perfrom these inspections.

If you want to learn and understand truss construction may I suggest that you join the Structural Building Components Association.

If you are doing new home construction inspections and do not know this information you ARE not doing a good inspection.
You will find no better information on trusses and their construction, handling and installation.
Belonging is very inexpensive and will pay you back many times over.

Let me first start by saying that there are a ton of GOOD Home Inspectors out there. 
What I want you to do in this tough market is question every opinion that may sour one of your deals. 
A lot of Realtors®, the less experienced ones, assume that the information in the inspection report is correct, or at least credible. Why not, everyone is certified.

 Many of you Realtors® sell homes in areas that have no building departments. What you and your buyers may not know is that there IS a statewide code. This code is known as The Residential Code of Ohio. This code went in to effect on 27 May 2006. It applies to ALL new 1,2,3 family builds in Ohio
 RBI is one of the few companies that are certified on The Residential Code of Ohio.
