the best inspector in columbus ohio: New Constuction Inspector in Ohio - 07/16/10 10:31 AM
Do you have to be certified to do an inspection on a new construction home?
Well it depends. There is nothing that says that you can not walk around a home and give your opinion on how it is built (workmanship).
The question is do you want to know if it is built (code) properly. Then the answer is yes if you want all the components inspected.
One example of having to be certified would be inspecting the electrical system.
Inspector Mike is certified, by the State of Ohio, in the following:
Building
Mechanical
Plumbing
Electrical

the best inspector in columbus ohio: What is your credibility worth? - 09/21/09 07:12 PM
What is your credibility worth?
Have you ever thought about the home inspector (his credentials) that you recommend?
I do not believe that all inspectors are bad, just enough are to be problematic. I happen to work in a state with no regulations. Most are incompetent yet I know a handful that I WOULD use for a home that I was purchasing.
If he, the home inspector, calls out things that he has read on the internet, that may or may not be correct, then puts this information in his report how do you ‘un-plant' that seed?
It does not matter … (4 comments)

the best inspector in columbus ohio: Best Home Inspector in Ohio - 02/28/09 02:40 PM
How do you find the best Home Inspector around? Do your own homework! Anyone can claim to be certified or having attended a school or having XXX years of experience.
While Ohio does not regulate Home Inspectors there are certifications that the State of Ohio offers. These certifications come from The Board of Building Standards of Ohio.
Anyone can inspect your new home. But are they really inspecting that it is built correctly? Do the use the states standards? Do they hide behind being a generalist while acting as an expert?
Our certifications are verifiable. You can view them here: http://www.yourhomesok.com/why_us.htm … (4 comments)

Next time that you say "my job is so tough that no one could do it" check these guys out. They are the ones who keep your beer cold. Your wife's hair dry. Your kids cell phones charged.
I doubt if many of us could perform these tasks. Or would chose to do so.
What was you most difficult job?
Some things we take for granted?
Sorry for my short post. Most tell me to add pictures and the such. I use the KISS principal.

the best inspector in columbus ohio: Writing Contracts - 08/15/07 03:25 PM
Please read this blog carefully. Nothing contained here is meant to give anyone legal advice.
Electrical and electrical systems are some of the most misdiagnosed and misunderstood systems in a home.
How you write your requests to remedy and/or how you accept that request is very important. What I mean is the wording.
Did you agree to have the ‘entire' electrical system examined or was the panel the item in question? Some inspectors cover their backside this way.
Did you agree to have a licensed electrician, in Ohio there is no residential license, make ‘all' necessary repairs? What is necessary? We do have a state … (3 comments)
