D.C. Councilmembers are studying a controversial measure that would provide new protections for condominium owners.
"While protections already exist for owners governed by a condominium association, conflicts often occur, including misunderstanding of rights or inequitable implementation of an association's policies and penalties", said District Councilmember Anita Bonds as she introduced the "Condominium Owner Bill of Rights". "These situations are particularly egregious when condo boards foreclose against their members as a result of past overdue assessments. Co-sponsored by Councilmembers Mary Cheh, Yvette Alexander and David Grosso, the bill if enacted would do three things.
