It has been a rough year for farmers in parts of Kansas due to drought, storms, and wildfires. The USDA Farm Service Agency just released the following.. FSA Emergency Loans Available Because of Natural Disasters Manhattan, Kansas, June 28, 2011 --- Adrian J. Polansky, State Executive Director for USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Kansas announced that FSA is making emergency loans available to help qualified producers recover from production and physical losses due to natural disasters. The week of June 14 is designated as National Flag Week and all are encouraged to fly the American flag this week. The national flag which which we now use been effective since July 4, 1960. Kansas Farmland Crop Progress, Wheat Condition still poor - 06/06/11 09:42 PM
Kansas Agricultural Statistics along with the Kansas Department of Agriculture released the Crop Progress Condition Report for this week and wheat is still in very poor and poor condition even though rains blessed many parts of the state it was varied and not enough. Here are two charts from the report available at this link Some farmers are still optimistic if wheat prices hold at higher prices then the reduced bushels might not hurt so bad but all in all most of South West and West Central Kansas are in for a poor wheat harvest.
