Kansas Farmland Price Index stays steady - 11/23/11 09:30 PM
The Kansas Farmland Price Index has remanined the same since last month yet is below other states including Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
The Index is published by Creighton University and the overall index rose to 75.4 in November from 66.9 in October which is 22 months of expansion.  However, the high shot-up in North Dakota due to oil boom may be shifting the value higher.  Iowa (and Illinois) farmland in the Corn Belt continues to shift the number upward as well.  However, in Kansas prices have remained steady.

Thankful for Land
During the Thanksgiving season people think about what they are most thankful for and all kinds of promotions for the Giving Season abound.  On the radio, announcers are asking for callers to call in and thank the folks they know in the armed forces and of course the shopping commercials about gift giving are everywhere.
One thing that I am most thankful for is the land.  As the preamble to the NAR Code of Ethics starts out…. “Under All is the Land!”  Everything we eat comes from this precious land.  Thanksgiving started with the Plymouth settlers after they … (0 comments)
