right now . yes. saturday night live is doing a tribute . playing the show where george carlin hosted.... right now - this show has survived for a long time. so many generations, lol. different phases in our lives. funny to pretty much everyone. just wanted to let y'al know that it was on.

...and what a night it was! Downtown Aiken is the best :) We had a beach blast last night - and after hours it ended with a beach party on our party street! Yes, we have a 'party' street here in Aiken :) All of our 'block parties', festivals, etc..are held right downtown on Newberry Street. A great location! And once the ends are blocked off - it is party time!!
We even had a 'beach' on the street. Yes - TOES IN THE SAND!! I luv it :) While the sun was still shining, the kids were playing in the sand....but … (5 comments)

I noticed this sign as I was headed to the office this morning. I bet your town doesn't post these! Or do they?? We even have street lights with the 'push here for green' button up high enough so it can be reached from horseback! Pretty cool, huh.

Valerie has posted some tasty looking recipes and I was inspired to do some baking myself. I remembered a cake recipe and thought I would share it with y'all. I've had this recipe for a very long time, but I don't make it that often. I have no idea why that is, because it is such an EASY recipe! It couldn't be any easier, really. It's called a Dump Cake - and here is how to make it.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Grease the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan
DUMP in 20 oz Crushed Pineapple.

To give y'all a feel for my little city. I'm sitting in my living room and I hear the clip-clop of horses hooves on the pavement. Yes, I knew it would be a horse-drawn carriage, but I still rush to the window every time I hear them. Well, it was the cutest thing. Homeowners - you know the importance of a good first impression! You are out in the yard every weekend, weeding the garden, mowing the lawn, trimming the bushes/trees/shrubs. You have put a fresh coat of paint on the fence and mailbox, cleaned up the oil stains in the driveway.... You are doing a great job!! Looking from the street - your house has great curb appeal.

Yes - FREE!! Free concerts all summer long. What a great little town I live in. Aiken, South Carolina.
We are so blessed to have this beautiful public garden in town. Originally part of The Iselin family estate, Hopelands Gardens was given to the City of Aiken, and opened as a public garden in 1959.

An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard; I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of. He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.

Where we left off. I was giving some insight into the alphabet soup that follows some of our names. Yes, we Realtors know they are designations - we know they require extra education and related sales experience in some cases. But, the general public might not realize.

Wow! She sure has alot of letters after her name.....what do they all mean? I've been asked this more than once, and was asked tonight, which is what prompted this blog.
As Realtors, we know the hard work (and huge expense for some of the courses/memberships) it takes to earn a designation. But the majority of the 'non-Realtor' public haven't a clue. to some, it is just a bunch of letters. Alphabet soup. If we don't fill them in, they will never know. I want to help the general public understand those letters :)

I must say that I've met some great people here. I really didn't know what to expect when Gene sent me the invitation to join. I've been blogging on blogger.com for some time...and I have my peeps on myspace..and a few even on facebook. But, I'm soooooooo glad I joined :) It took me awhile to get started...but it is almost as addicting as myspace. I am a Realtor....but I am so much more! The streets are quiet in Aiken - EVERYONE is watching the third leg of the triple crown. The Belmont. Aiken, SC is an equestrian town - so there are numerous 'Belmont' parties today. Good luck to Big Brown - the jockey - the trainers - the owner - the grooms - the stall mucker - the farriers....and everyone else involved!

It has happened several times, you've read it in the newspaper - you've seen it on the news - you've heard stories at the watercooler. Yes, it happens all the time. Fire breaks out in a home - thanks to an unattended candle. It happened to a house an agent in our office had listed. Another agent showed up for her scheduled appointment ---when she opened the front door and saw smoke and flames she immediately called 9-1-1. The house was not a total loss, thank goodness. Summer is not officially here, but it sure has felt like it the past few days here in The South. Hot and Humid, ugh. Thank goodness my landlord is installing a ceiling fan as I type! I was actually hoping he was here to install my screen door. Wayyy back in January I asked him about a screen door. He said he would get one, no problem (I would have purchased it, if he would install it!) Since it was January - I said that if I had it by March it would be great.
