A Proud Mom! - 10/30/08 09:40 AM
That's me!  I've always been proud of my little girl.  (how can it be that she will be 23 and yet I haven't gotten any older, lol)
She gave me a call last night to see if I was home - said she was gonna drop something on my porch.   Well, I was on my way home so I told her I would see her there!
Take a look at what she made for me!    Unfortunately this is one art project that I won't be able to save forever.

looks just like my kitty!   Except for the rhinestone collar, … (24 comments)

I stopped in to welcome Beverly and her team to downtown.      I mentioned to her that I guessed business must be good for her to be opening another location NOW...in this market!   She said - OH YESS....there is money to lend, and lots of different programs for buyers to take advantage of :)  They are processing all different types of loans....

I may have found a new career! - 10/27/08 09:00 PM
The old antique store on Park Avenue is being demolished.  Well, it is already leveled - they started tearing it down a couple weeks ago.   Now they are working on the footers and the slab.   I've been watching them everyday!   Lucky for me they are working right next door to our office :)
Well, the other morning Bob let me 'work' the excavater - it was the coolest!       Soooo-   I'm thinking, if you can't sell them, you might as well tear them down, haha.  Just kidding!
It was alot of fun to work the bucket - and swing the doo dad, … (16 comments)

Adopt a Rescue Dog :) - 10/15/08 09:46 PM
If you are looking for a dog - please consider adopting a rescue dog.    Look for a place in your county.
Danny & Ron run a rescue, and recently adopted out their 1000th dog :)    MOST OF THESE DOGS (800)  WERE RESCUED FROM HURRICANE KATRINA.
Their operation is TOTALLY NON-PROFIT - they just don't want to see any more dogs be put down.
They go and rescue these pups from the mills and just want to find good homes for them.
They take them home and care for them until a 'forever family' is found :)
They recently were awarded with an … (13 comments)

...or this is what I used to think. I am the first to admit that I can't tell a cedar tree from an oak tree.   I think that is about to change.  I live in Downtown Aiken - and I just found out we have a CITYWIDE ABORETUM! (say it like this:  arbor-eee-tum)
Trees are our greatest assests and our arboretum provides a natural learning lab for EVERYONE!
Aikens' downtown streets are laid out in a grid pattern - creating 176 parkways which total over 15 miles in length!  Pretty cool huh!  All that green space - throughout the city :)    AND HOME TO OVER 150 DIFFERENT … (14 comments)

Disclaimer: names and locations have been eliminated to protect the innocent, the ignorant, and those too full of themselves (or too stupid) to step out of the box!
Well - I had a chance to put the power of my Active Rain Network to work for me yesterday.   I am not sure how this customer found me, but the message I received in my inbox said they had just moved to 'FAR-AWAY-STATE' from 'EVEN FURTHER AWAY STATE' and just were not happy in the neighborhood.   Here is the kicker --- they wanted to know if I could help them with a rental in 'NoName County'.   (now remember --- … (68 comments)

The Locals Call It 'The Brew Pub'..... - 10/09/08 12:16 AM
...but it's true name is:  Aiken Brewing Company Grille & Bar.     Located in the heart of downtown Aiken at the corner of The Alley and  Laurens Street.  You can't miss it!   Look for the red/green striped awning and the tables out front - full of happy customers - under the big green umbrellas :)      We have several options for al fresco dining downtown.   I think my favorite is the Brew Pub.

Where do I start!  Ok - I guess the beer, haha.    They have HANDCRAFTED AND AWARD WINNING MICRO BREWS.     My friend Jen is a server at the Brew Pub … (11 comments)

It was a great turnout :)

Carolina Bay Nature Reserve - 10/05/08 04:06 PM
I had never heard of them until I moved here.  For me, a Bay is near the coast - certainly not in Aiken County!  Well, I was mistaken.  There are LOTS OF BAYS in South and North Carolina.    They are very mysterious actually.  Called a 'Carolina Bay'.  Elliptical depressions in the ground mainly found in The Carolinas.  AND THEY ARE PRESERVED WETLANDS!!! YAYYYY!!

Preserved and PROTECTED from development.         Some people might think that is a silly thing for a Realtor to be happy about - but come on - they aren't making anymore land....and we cannot develop every last square … (4 comments)

Aiken - Where Character Comes First - 10/02/08 08:29 PM
Did you know that Aiken SC is a City of Character?   (and some charactors too, lol) j/k.
"OUR CITY WILL BE JUDGED BY THE CHARACTER OF OUR CITIZENS"
Anyway - back in 1999 a resolution was passed by the Aiken City Council to support a 'Community of Charactor' initiative in Aiken - THE FIRST IN SOUTH CAROLINA!!   We really are trend setters here in this little horse town :)

What does this mean?   Well, each month a character trait is presented to the community to encourage citizens OF ALL AGES to become better role models of good character.  AND..every … (4 comments)
