As y'all know - we've got some new construction going on for the past few months next door ----- what I haven't told you is that on the other side of us they've been working away , too!        Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right...here I am, stuck in the middle of all this construction!! hahahaha.
Well, the old Post Office is getting a fresh look (maintaining the historical aspect) for some new tenants.  Yup -  we're gonna have some new neighbors :)

That's right - pay no sales tax for your 'back-to-school' items the weekend of August 7 - 9, 2009.

Area stores are all stocked up and ready for the blitz.  Get everything you need for you  and your children.  Rulers - notebooks - pens/pencils - bookbags -calculators... even clothing, clothing accessories, footwear, bed linens and shower curtains are state and local sales tax free during this shopping period.
                                                                                        
There will be awesome sales everywhere from Staples to Target....watch for the sales flyers in the mail and in the newspaper.

Hey!  Did y'all notice that the comments are turned off to 'non-members'?       
Most of you do not leave comments anyway - and may not have noticed.  I just wanted to let y'all know what was going on.                                                                                                                 
There have been some spammer-scammers-jammers leaving comments with links to bad bad places!!  I was told 'it takes you to a place you don't want to be'.  
   
 Until the webmasters at Active Rain can block those scoundrels, it was suggested that we block 'non-member comments' for the time being - and this should put a stop to the scammers for now.

Current Economy Causing a Crimp In Your Vacation Plans? - 07/19/09 07:15 PM
Just curious.  Have you had to cut back on your 'normal' vacation activities this year?   A lot of us have.
You know - the beach is not far from us.  About a 2 and a half hour drive to Hilton Head.  There are several public beaches with free parking.  Pack up the kids, pack up a picnic lunch, and go put your toes in the sand! R-E-L-A-X!! For most of todays cars - you can get there and back on less than a tank of gas.

...we've got some more construction going on!   The train depot at the corner of Park Avenue and Union Street is really coming along.

This is a $3,000,000 project in our little city.  The train was a very important part of Aiken's history.  Really, we would have been nothing without it!   When it is completed it will replicate the original depot as historically accurate as possible.   The depot will house a … (2 comments)

Behind Closed Doors - Park Place Update 7/14/09 - 07/14/09 01:47 PM
Well - from the outside it doesn't look like much is happening - but believe me, on the inside the joint is jumping!    We have had plumbers - electricians - hvac techs - fire protection services....etc - all doing there thing!   I even saw the sheet rock guy there with his measuring tool!!  Woo hoo - that means that sheet rock is coming soon :)
Soooo - - even though it appears from the outside that things are at a stand still - they are not.  It's amazing what is going on behind those closed doors, lol.
