This event is personal to me and to a number of people. I think everyone knows someone suffering from the effects of Alzheimers. It is such a tragic disease, what it does to the mind. Very sad to watch someone you love deteriorate, to the point that they don't know you anymore :( Let's put an end to Alzheimers -- walk for a cure! My daughter and I were at the Aiken City Council meeting last night, and our hometown celebrity William 'Refrigerator" Perry was in attendance! The City was honoring him for his recent vote into the SC Football Hall of Fame. Here he is, #72, with some of his family members :)
I didn't get a chance to speak with William, I wonder if he remembers me. Years ago I worked part-time at the local grocery store (Bi-Lo) where he was a regular customer. I'm definitely a fan of his! We were on a first name basis back then and … (3 comments)

It's been one of the best polo seasons ever in Aiken - I've been to some very exciting matches, and one of THE BEST I've been to yet. It was the Smoak Family Tournament - finals match on Whitney Field, Aiken. It was a great match, lots of great plays - both defensively and offensively, no injuries, not many penalties.... tied at the final chukker it went into sudden death overtime!
