I had the pleasure of attending the Smoak Family Polo Tournament Finals match on Sunday - and what a match, wow!! This was one of the best 8-goal matches I have ever seen. Lots of defense, offense, skill, speed... After the 6th chukker it was a tie game, so it went into sudden-death overtime. It was non-stop action, both teams proved they deserved to be in the finals! You don't see this kind of scoring usually in an 8-goal tourny. (8 goal is the handicap level total of the players on each team - If you're not too sure about polo - check out some … (0 comments)

Got land? Why not consider putting some or all of your land into a conservation easement? It doesn't cost you anything - in fact, it puts money in your pocket with tax credits!!..but hurry, those credits may be ending soon! But most importantly, it is protecting the land now and for generations to come. We have only so much green space left on our planet - we need to take measures to keep it!!

I have the list on my desk.... will post tomorrow. I love going out in the field and picking the berries, we used to do it all the time in my hometown in New Jersey -- and it was a classmate whose family owned the farm. I love small town life, and even though Aiken is a small CITY...it still feels like HOME to me :)

Maybe you were there -maybe not - but be sure to add it to your calendar for next year! What am I talking about - why Aiken Prep Fest of course! Our own Jesse Colin Young (of the Youngbloods) is one of the founders, and this year one of my friends won the 'sing out contest' and got the opportunity to sing onstage with Mr. Young himself!

Yesss!!! It's just about here. I was walking in Hopelands Gardens a few weeks ago with my great niece and we could see the transformation beginning! Over 100,000 lights will be strung throughout the gardens. If you have never been - you have to go at least once..... driving by and looking just isn't the same as strolling down the garden paths, seeing the strings of lights twinkling, the old oak trees, hearing the music, sipping hot apple cider at the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame & Museum....
