Cape Meares, Oregon is a lovely coastal town where one can fish in local Cape Meares lake, rockhunt on the sandy and rocky beaches or drive just a short distance to see the world famous Octopus tree.  The tree is a mother SITKA SPRUCE - (PICEA SITCHENSIS) with many smaller trees growing out of it.  A very interesting sight to behold.  In fact there is a legend about the tree.  Click here to read more.

tillamook county: Are you waiting until Spring to purchase your property? - 12/27/06 04:56 PM
Buyers, are you waiting to purchase in the spring or summer when everyone else will be too?  The winter months make a great time to purchase homes that have been on the market for a while.  Maybe now would be a good time to put in that offer and get some negotiating done.  Sellers who have kept their homes on the market are motivated and willing to entertain reasonable and fair offers---no one has to give their home away--and sellers are more negotiable at this time.
It's also a great time of year to look at those other things you can't or … (0 comments)

tillamook county: November Market for Tillamook Oregon - 12/08/06 07:32 PM
The winter months are often a slow time in the local market and it seems that sales locally are reflecting the time of year more than what we hear for most of the rest of the country.  Prices seem to be evening out which should help the new buyer, yet not hinder the current seller.  As a matter of fact we had half as many new listings in our local multiple service in the month of Novermber than the monthly average since January of 2006.  In November of 2005 the multiple listing service in my area saw 72 new listings, whereas, … (2 comments)

tillamook county: A little about Tillamook, Oregon - 12/08/06 07:04 PM
The name Tillamook was the name of a tribe of indians who thrived in the area, enjoying all of nature's bounty.  If you ever want to read more about the indians of the time; you should read the 1960 historical novel Trask by Don Berry.  The book is about Elbridge Trask who settled on the shores of Tillamook Bay in 1848.
Dairy farms dominate the county's fertile valley. It is the home of the world-famous Tillamook Cheese Factory. The reforested, 355,000 acre "Tillamook Burn" is rapidly maturing. Commercial thinning will become increasingly evident. With 75 miles of scenic coastline, four bays and nine … (1 comments)
