Fort Worth is the Western Focal Point for Gustav Hospital Patient Evacuees... - 08/30/08 12:01 PM
In an attempt to make sure that the survivors and evacuees of hurricane Gustav who have been hospitalized have a place to go... Fort Worth... with it's excellent public and private hospital system... has been made the Western Focal Point for incoming hospital patients being air-lifted from New Orleans. Right now it appears that New Orleans may once again bear much of the brunt of the hurricane winds... and the crushing tidal surge that accompanies hurricanes of such magnitude. Right now the plans are for hospital-bound patients to be airlifted by the National Guard (I'm glad there are still some here). (14 comments)
Fort Worth Hits the Big Time... The Apple Store Arrives ! - 08/30/08 11:37 AM
There are many things about Fort Worth, Texas that make it a great place to live and to work. Low unemployment, great jobs market, one of the best "hospital districts" in the state, and a vibrant housing market with plenty of affordable homes... all add to Fort Worth's liveability ! The recently-discovered Barnett Shale natural gas field is proving to be one of the largest gas fields in the entire country... and as such, is providing a great source of both jobs and income to the city of Fort Worth and its surrounding suburbs. But... up until now... something's been missing. Even (26 comments)

Great New Model in Northwest ISD... 2087 Sq Ft for $135,990... - 08/29/08 08:46 PM
One of the things I enjoy doing... is snooping... or maybe "scouting" is a better word... scouting around all the new home neighborhoods that are pretty well sprinkled all around the Fort Worth area. Today I came upon a really great new model. It is a pretty exciting "find"... in my opinion. I've got a preliminary picture that I want to share. The model isn't quite finished yet... that's why you see a lovely dirt lawn in front of this model... but I was so excited... I wanted to get online as soon as I could. (Unfinished model !) Also... I have included below a picture (8 comments)

If you have been looking for a new home in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for awhile, and are waiting for the interest rates to go down even further... I have something that should really interest you. Don't wait any longer ! One of the many New Home Builders I work with has just come up with a special financing plan (hot of the press just yesterday) that is really fabulous. The current interest rates out on the open market are hovering right around the mid-sixes... six and one half per cent to six and five-eighths percent. This special interest rate program (17 comments)

Not Just Another Post about High Gas Prices and Yucky Gas Mileage... :) - 08/23/08 11:25 PM
I just wanted to brag just a little bit about my Honda CRV and the incredible gas mileage I am getting with it. The Honda CRV is a "crossover" SUV that is built on the same chassis (they call it a 'platform') as the Honda Civic is. So... that gives you a bit of an idea about how nice and roomy it is inside. Enough headroom for my poofy Texas hair :) Gas prices are coming down. I passed several gas stations today and noticed that regular is selling for $3.34 a gallon. That is like seventy cents lower than it (12 comments)

Mollie T Cat.. My "Unlicensed Assistant... " - 08/16/08 10:02 PM
I must admit. I have done everything I can think of to stimulate my new "unlicensed assistant" to do something to take some of the load off of me. Here she is... Ms Mollie T Cat... looking raring to go... or at least that is what she tells me. I have tried changing her cat food to one with a tad more protein. That didn't work. I've tried sprinkling just a itty bitty tad of kittie dust in her filing cabinet... hoping that putting it in there will motivate this dynamo to jump in and get started.
But... nothing (27 comments)

Is It Karen... or Karen Anne ? Which Do You Prefer ? - 08/16/08 06:34 PM
With all the new folks who have joined Active Rain during the year I have been a member... occasionally I'll have someone ask me... "Should I call you Karen, or do you prefer Karen Anne ?" Well... there is a story behind behind my answer... and I'll share it with you right now : * * * * * After nine years in elementary school teaching, I decided to go into real estate. It was 1979, and after six years in the business, I had come to be fairly successful at it. One of my phone calls one day was from a (27 comments)
It was about two years ago. I had been showing this really nice young couple homes. We had looked for about three weeks. The buyers had made it very clear that they did not want a home in a neighborhood that had a Home Owners Association. When I asked them why, they said they did not want some silly neighborhood group "telling them what they could or could not do." I showed them all the homes I could find, but these folks wanted a newer home, and most newer home neighborhoods had Home Owners Associations. The buyer's often called me (18 comments)

Memories of Eloping... In A Sparkling, Bright and Shiny 1962 Chevy Impala ! - 08/09/08 09:44 PM
I was driving back to my office after meeting with a buyer and a builder, and there it was ! Off to the side of the road... in a cul-de-sac... just sitting there looking all pretty and such. What was it... ? It was a 1962 Chevy Impala. Cream colored, two door, looking pretty much like it did the day the original buyer drove it off the lot. One might ask... what's the big deal about a 1962 Chevy ? Well... forty-six years ago... it was my "elopement car." It was the car that my sweetie and I drove when we "transported (32 comments)
Donna Answers The Phone... What a Concept ! And What An Attitude ! - 08/09/08 09:22 PM
Recently, I was trying to get some information about a home that a buyer called me about. It was mid last week... Wednesday, I think. I had called perhaps three new home builder sales offices. No Answer. I tried their cell phones... and again... no answer. I had just gotten off the phone with this "new prospect..." and I really wanted to give good service by getting back to him promptly.
So there I was... just about locked out of getting the information I needed to get back to this prospect. What can I do ? Who can I call ? (26 comments)
