Our food supply has been corrupted.    It seems that every few weeks there is yet another report of e-coli in our beef, salmonella in our peanut butter, or melamine in baby formula.  Did you know that almost all corn, rice, and wheat grown in this country has been genetically modified (GMO)?  So have many of our fruits and vegetables.  Most European countries have banned GMO foods and yet our cows, chickens, and pigs are fed these GMO grains (and so are we!).  High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is in just about everything.  Despite the television commercials doing their best to convince … (6 comments)

How do you keep your head above water in today's economy?  Unless you're a self-made millionaire (I'm not!), it's certainly not easy.  Years ago my husband and I decided on a pretty significant lifestyle change.  If we were really going to change, we had to reassess our needs and wants.  We wanted to live more simply and be as self-sustaining as possible.  We did not want to get up and head out to corporate America every morning. Beautiful, diverse, northeastern Arizona! - 02/22/09 06:03 PM
This beautiful, little known, area of northeastern Arizona called the White Mountains.  I talked a little about it on my profile... it is a very diverse and beautiful area, with a little something for everyone.  It encompasses most of Navajo and Apache Counties, and ranges from 5000 ft up to 8500 ft in elevation.  We've got high desert with its rolling hills (knolls, really), grassy with a various assortment of high desert vegetation and juniper and cedar trees.  (My daughter calls them big bushes.)  We also have mountainous regions of ponderosa pine and aspen trees.
