Back to School! - 07/31/07 06:37 PM
Back in the uh-um* years the start of August was back to school thinking and it probably is still today.  But back in the uh-um* years, back to school preparation meant checking out all the cool new text books, shopping for 1 new outfit (not a whole wardrobe, bookbag on wheels, cell phone and ipod) and getting a practice walk to school or the bus stop (for timing purposes) with my ''great" mom.  I think TODAY they just time the drive.  Today, in my neighborhood the Parents drive the kids to school or the less fortunate just get a drive up … (23 comments)

Home Staging; Avoid a Groundhog Day Experience - 07/28/07 08:17 PM
Home Staging; Avoid a Groundhog Day Experience
Remember the movie, Groundhog Day, with Bill Murray?  In 2006, Groundhog Day was added to the United States National Film Registry as being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
Having your house on the market is the same as living in the real estate version of this classic flick.  Everyday you must wake up and make the beds, wipe down all the counters, clear any dishes, sparkle up the faucets, hide the bath towels, tuck away any pending laundry, tidy up the toys, make the floors shimmer, and, well, you know the drill. The list goes … (3 comments)

House Hunting? Are you skeptical of a staged home? - 07/19/07 02:21 PM
Home buyers look at multiple homes when surfing the market.  Generally they look on the Internet first in the comfort of their home or Realtor's® office, then they head out for an excursion tour guided by their Realtor® hoping to find the family solution that fulfills their dreams for daily living.
Sometimes buyers, some Realtors as well, feel that if a home is staged, the sellers are trying to "fool" the lookers; trying to cover up something, or they are trying to trick the buyers into thinking the home is larger than it is.
Home Staging is actually just the opposite!  The purpose … (13 comments)

Avoid Displaying Your Home Office in the Master Suite - 07/19/07 12:47 PM
Even setting up a small personal office in the master bedroom suite dilutes the mood of privacy and relaxation.
BEFORE --
AFTER -- In this Atlanta area home, staging simply required rearranging the location of the desk, depersonalizing the space, and adding a seating arrangement.  Now a potential buyer can appreciate the benefit this space brings to the master suite. This bay window nook took on a tranquil feeling and displays a sense of privacy for reading and personal time. Small tapestries above the windows were used to show off the height of the ceilings and add a splash of color.

Home Stager Highlights - 07/14/07 10:06 PM
When I was a kid I LOVED Highlights, the magazine.  I would fight my little sister for the Hidden Pictures  page.  Then, when I had my own kids, I got to LOVE Highlights magazine, again!   Yes . . . I am ashamed to say, I fought my kids, as well, for the Hidden Pictures page!  I now can't wait for grandchildren so that the subscription will be renewed and I once again will have access to the Hidden Pictures page.  (Oh, please, don't let me hurt a grandchild)
Recently I found Highlights  on line! Wow!  Highlights Magazine has downloadable Hidden Picture Pages!
That's … (6 comments)

Home Staging for the Average Joe - 07/13/07 01:42 PM
Everybody knows the average Joe.  Although the average Joe varies from region to region across the country, you can bet you know him where you live.  Most of us are friends with, and do business with, the average Joe.  In fact, most of us ARE the average Joe.
The average Joe in the state of Georgia lives in a $235,000 home.  The average Joe in Georgia moves every 7 years.  The average Joe lists his home with a Realtor when it's time to market his home.  The average Joe sifts and sorts through pictures of available homes on the Internet when wanting to … (11 comments)
