While in Manassas last week a member of Rolling Thunder was passing out flyers regarding a toy drive the mortocycle vets conduct to collect toys for local military families. As you can see, this is the program's third year. My husband and I intend to participate and we urge as many people as possible to do the same.
There is a very large contingent of military families in the area who are struggling with deployments to two wars in addition to the high cost of living in Northern Virginia. It is our privilege to provide as much assistance as possible.

Carpools usually meet at the VDOT Commuter Lot at the entrance to Lake Ridge - see Omnimatch for more specific details
Slugging (some erroneously call it hitching a ride which it is) is a result of the need to use HOV lanes on the I-95 as much as possible. Commuters form a line at a designated Slug Line Stop in Lake Ridge - the VDOT Commuter at the Lake Ridge entrance. For example, a driver will pull up headed for the Pentagon, but needs one more passenger to qualify for HOV-3. The first person in line going to the Pentagon will join the others in the car and away they go. It's free commuting for the slugger and gives the driver availability to HOV lanes on I-95 - win win!!

There are 271 Detached Homes and 503 Town Homes in Rollingwood Village located on both sides of Smoketown Road at Minnieville Road.
When the community was engineered it was laid out in such a way that sections with both home styles are integrated into the subdivision - there is not a separate town home section and a separate detached home section. It is a typical feature of Ryan communities.

While in Historic Manassas I visited Prospero's Bookstore on Center Street. As you can see by the photos it is the kind of bookstore you visit when you want
Antiquarian books
Antiqe Maps and Prints
Military History Books
History Books
Fiction (hard cover and paperback)
A broad range of topics
It is extremely well organized with nooks and crannies that invite liesurely book browsing. The only way to describe the store is that it exudes an air of authenticity coupled with the antique charm of the 90 year old building it calls home.
