BRAC Brings Needed Road Improvements To Eastern Fairfax County Virginia - 10/18/08 03:09 PM
For years those of us in Eastern Fairfax County have struggled with the inconvenience of the Fairfax County Parkway terminating at the Franconia-Springfield Parkway. Although it picks up again at Fullerton Road just west of I-95 and continues to Route 1 the problem lies in the fact the routes available to reconnect are not particularly efficient - actually they are a downright pain. Fortunately, the changes being brought about by BRAC in the Fort Belvoir and Engineering Proving Grounds area necessitate completing the missing link. Construction of the final two miles of the Fairfax County Parkway will begin in late 2008 now that (6 comments)

Take A Hike Into History At Manassas National Battlefield Park - 10/08/08 06:20 PM
There were two Battles of Manassas/Bull Run. The first was in July 1861 and the second was in August 1862. Why two names? The Northerners named battles after nearby bodies of water while the Southerners named them after nearby towns. In either case, Stonewall Jackson defeated the Union Army decisively at Second Manassas. It has been strikingly maintained as it was during the Civil War and has outstanding and beautiful hiking trails. The Ultimate Rush - Rush Hour In Northern Virginia - 10/07/08 04:44 PM
If you are a resident you know the term "rush hour" is an oxymoron. If you are relocating to the area you must have heard the National Capital Area is in the elite group of "Lousy Commuting Time Cities". Don't plan an escape across the Potomac - according to local traffic reports Suburban Maryland has a similar problem - no worse, but probably no better. However, there are options that make it more palatable if Prince William County is an area you are considering calling home.

Old Manassas Courthouse Prince William County Virginia - 10/04/08 02:05 PM
Prince William County has always played a major role in the development of Virginia and our country continuing to this day. The courthouse featured in this report was the fifth such building in the county. The first four courthouses were in Woodbridge, Cedar Run, Dumfries and BRENTSVILLE. Manassas was at the junction of two area railroads (the reason for two Civil War battles) and grew rapidly after the cessation of hostilities. That accelerated growth made it feasible to move the county government westward again. The new courthouse was opened at the corner of Lee and Grant Avenues in 1893. It continued (0 comments)
