Yesterday, while taking a walk along a stretch of common ground in Lake Ridge, I spotted a bunny in front of an old cable TV distribution box. It immediately made me realize it was an excellent shot to use demonstrating the simplicity of improving photos with Photoshop®.
In addition to having the software you need an "inventory" of photos you can use in the exercise. In the case of the bunny I used one of my "inventory" photos of ivy ground cover.

My in-home work station faces a sliding glass door that opens to our patio and the woods that are no more than 30' from the door.
This past Friday I was checking email, happened to look out the door and there she was right at the edge of the woods. She didn't flinch when I walked over to the door and snapped the above photo. It is not at all unusual for American churches to provide mission trips both within the United States and abroad. In the case of Covenant Presbyterian we have sent a mission team to Mexico for the past 10 years to assist a small village with the construction of a new church building.Each member of the team pays for their own transportation to and from Mexico. The trips are made during Spring Break to enable families with high school age children to go together. However, the congregation holds fundraisers to provide the necessary funds for building materials.

This historic church is as lovely today as it was in the eighteenth century. It is in Lorton just south of Fort Belvoir on US Route 1 which is pretty much the same route the Washingtons wuld have travelled from Mount Vernon for worship services
The church is still home to an active Episcopal congregation as it was when Washington, Mason and Fairfax attended. The church and grounds are impeccably maintained. As was typical of the day there is an attached cemetery with many very old grave markers.

How To Brighten Up A Lake Ridge Neighborhood - 04/09/11 04:43 PM
Over the past several weeks we've been driving through Lake Ridge, Old Bridge Estates and Westridge to take pictures of flowering trees for our Prince William Spring Blossom Video.
Although we didn't include the tree pictured below in the video, we were certainly impressed by its' size. Since the homes in this section of Lake Ridge are approximately 30 years old we assume the tree is about the same age. It does stand tall and command attention as it is the tallest flowering tree in any front yard on the three block long street.

One of the real pleasures of living in Northern Virginia is that we have a broad range of flowering tree and shrub types. Many of them bloom in early Spring and others as late as mid to late May and even in the summer. The earliest to bloom are cherry, Bradford Pear and several deciduous magnolias such as the Tulip Tree and Star Magnolia.

As I looked out the sliding glass door from my in-home office work station I noticed what I believed to be four goldfinches on one of our nyger seed feeders - three males and one female.
I thought a "foursome" photo could be used later this year in a post about a West Springfield Rotary golf tournament. However, while editing it I noticed there was an interloper peering around the upper corner of the feeder. Of course, I could edit her out, but that wouldn't be very nice.
