As members of the United States Navy Band the "Sea Chanters" are the official chorus of the US Navy.
Formed in 1956 to perform at a State of the Nation dinner the all male chorus was an instant success. They were immediately transferred to the USN Band and given the task of performing songs and chants of the sea.
In 1980 women were added to the group enabling them to expand their repertoire to include classical and Broadway show tunes as well as patriotic and popular music.
