It's obvious these folks are tree lovers. The community property in our residential and commercial areas is beautifully manicured as well with lots of lovely trees. Considering how cold it has been in Northern Virginia this winter I was afraid the Spring bulbs had left town. This small group of daffodil volunteers inhabit the heavily wooded common ground behind our Lake Ridge home. Of course, each year they do their "daffodil thing" and the group expands a little bit. There are those who say, "Living in Lake Ridge is like living in the woods." Actually. it is living in the woods, all 1,200 acres of the heavily wooded common ground spread throughout the subdivision. It is 27% of the 4,400 acres that comprise Lake Ridge. We don't have an Atlantic Ocean view in the morning to catch the sunrise. This picture was snapped from our deck the morning after our most recent snowfall. If it was summertime the morning sunrise would have been blocked by leaves. Oh well, we'll just have to "learn to make do"

Yesterday I wrote a post entitled "I'm Ready Already" regarding the excessive cold weather we have had this winter in Lake Ridge and that I was ready for Spring blossoms now, not later, but now. I was at least pleased a lot of the severe snow storms on the Eastern Seaboard had literally gone around the DC area. As I said, "I Shoulda' Kept My Mouth Shut". Lake Ridge sits along the shore of the 2,100 acre Occoquan Reservoir. It is very unusual to see it frozen as hard over as wide an area as revealed in this photo. However, we have had temperatures in the 20°F range for the past two weeks or so.Yesterday I drove down to the boat launch ramp to see what effect it had on the Canada Geese.
