the state flower is a Springtime blossom on a tree. Well, that makes Virginia "strange" since our state flower is the Dogwood blossom. If that isn't enough, Virginia is the only state where the state tree and flower are from the same source - the dogwood tree. Actually, it is neither a blossom nor flower, but a bract similar to the poinsettia. It also has solid masonry construction a metal roof in excellent condition no basement thermal windows new gutters and downspounts and sits high on a hill with excellent drainage However, it has the potential for future problems. When you live in a subdivision with 1,200 acres of wooded common ground and treed residential lots it's easy to understand why Lake Ridge is famous for its' display of Spring blossoms. The Lake Ridge display can also be enjoyed without the need to travel to Washington, DC and fight the congestion.

Each Spring the Lake Ridge Parks and Recreation Association stocks one of our 5 pools with trout for a fish out during Spring Break. This is but one of many acrtivities our HOA schedules throughout the year. A wide variety of community events is one of the primary reasons for the popularity of this 38,000 person subdivision. My husband volunteers as long as he is one of the poolside people responsible to help kids fish. The pictures were taken at last year's event

Looking at the photo below it's easy to realize a splash of color makes a tremendous difference in an otherwise dreary post-winter visit to the woods - in this case behind our home.
As Realtors® for the past 34 years my husband and I have observed interior color schemes that range from "marketable to grotesque". There have even been a few in the truly obscene category, e.g. a half bath with all four walls painted as a very graphic scene in the Garden of Eden.

Fast forward to the Blizzard of 2010. The photo below reminds me of the message in that old tune. Yes, my husband was taking pictures while I shoveled snow during the "event". Incidentally, the grill you see in the picture was the only visible part of my car. An hour later that was covered as well.

The two photos of the Lake Ridge and Northern Virginia Blizzard of 2010 were taken exactly 24 hours apart. The first was taken at the start of the blizzard at 7;OO PM 2/5/2010 The second was taken at the end of the blizzard at 7:00 PM 2/6/2010 The total snowfall on our deck was 28" in 24 hours

Lake Ridge, Old Bridge Estates and Westridge all call Old Bridge Road in Woodbridge home Additionally, if you didn't see their individual entrance signs you would probably not realize when you crossed from one to the other.
They have many things in common:
Each has its own pool, tennis courts, tot lots and community center They all have ease of transportation to the Pentagon, Washington, DC, Fort Belvoir and all National Capital Area work centers as well as MCB Quantico.
