Dale City was the inspiration of Cecil Don Hylton and his wife Irene. His firm, Hylton Homes began developing homes in Dale City west of I-95 at the conclusion of World War II. The construction stretched from I-95 west to Hoadly Road. Each section (community) along Dale Boulevard was given a name ending in Dale - they proceeded alphabetically from east to west.. Only "I" and "J" were omitted - they are Ashdale, Birchdale, Cloverdale, Darbydale, Evansdale, Forestdale, Glendale, Hillendale, Kerrydale, Lindendale, Mapledale, Nottingdale, Oakdale, Princedale, Ridgedale, Silverdale and Trentdale. When the developers exhausted the land supply in Lake Ridge they bought a major tract just at the west end of Lake Ridge and voila - Westridge was born. The Springwoods section of Lake Ridge connects with Westridge without having to access Old Bridge Road. It is difficult to tell where one begins and the other ends. Community Features Parents of young children love having the elementary school in the subdivision The club complex with pool, clubhouse, tennis courts and pond is an extremely attractive and much used facility Detached homes are avaiable with either 1/2 or 1/4 acre lots Homes were built (0 comments)

River Falls is a community of upscale homes located off the Prince William County Parkway behind the County Center Complex. Entrance to the subdivision is gained by turning onto Greatbridge Road from the Prince William County Parkway. The homes are sited on lots ranging in size from 1/5 acre to 5 or more acres. Old Hickory Golf Club is the star attraction in River Falls - it is in the center of the subdivision and provides very many golf course lots. Perhaps, because the proximity to Quantico makes Montclair very popular with Marines. After all, it's a quick 5.6 miles to the main gate of MCB Quantico. Why is Montclair so popular? All grade levels of public school are within approximately 10 minutes Detached homes are priced from $200,000 to $600,000 Town homes are reasonably priced from $150,000 to $400,000 Neighborhood and major shopping facilities are within 15 minutes There is both a community lake and full service country club in Montclair It has lots of trees and yards for kids, pets and gardens It has a very active community activity program (4 comments)

The distance from the entrance of Brittany to the Main Gate at MCB Quantico is a short 4.7 miles. In these days of high energy costs that is a genuine benefit. Brittany is a lovely community of 325 homes selling from $380,000 to an average of $425,000. The Fortuna Center for excellent neighborhood shopping is 1/10 of a mile. It features a Shopper's Target and the usual contingent of specialty shops. Commuter parking lot and PRTC COMMUTER BUS STOP AT THE ENTRANCE TO BRITTANY. Old Bridge Estates is a community of both town homes and detached homes - the main entrance is at Old Bridge Road and Smoketown Road which is the main thoroughfare through the subdivision. Its' popularity is due to several factors that are usually at the top of a purchaser's list of requirements. Ease of commuting. There is a PRTC commuter bus stop at the Festival Shopping Center only 5 minutes from Old Bridge Estates. - there are SLUG LINES within approximately 10 minutes and the VRE Woodbridge railway station is within 20 minutes. Its' entrance is at Ridgefield Road and the Prince William County Parkway just across the street from the county adninistrative center. It has four types of residential property Detached homes Town homes Condominiums Rental apartments It is, of course, convenient to the Prince William County Parkway facilitating travel east to I-95 and US 1 and west to Manassas and I-66. Just when you think there is not enough land to support 100 homes one pops up with 1,100 of them. Eagle's Pointe is a KHovanian project along US 1 directly across the highway from PORT POTOMAC Both Port Potomac and Eagle's Pointe are equidistant from PRTC bus service in the VDOT commuter parking lot at US 1 and Route 234 to the south and the VRE Rippon Landing railway station to the north. Commuters have a full array of commuting options as SLUG LINES also operate from the VDOT lot. Two residential builders, Ryan Homes and Courtland Homes are doing the residential side of the development. Belmont Bay is one of 3 communities in eastern Prince William County that are a product of the new mixed-use concept that maximizes land use where land availability is limited. It is in an extremely attractive location along the Occoquan River as you cross over from Fairfax County. There are both town homes, detached homes and condominiums. A primary feature is a central plaza, the highlight of which is a marina and the site of a new science museum. Potomac Club is the newest mixed-use community in Eastern Prince William County. There are 3 residential builders constructing homes at the present time - M/I Homes, Ryan Homes and Pulte Homes. There are two important features about Potomac Club. The first is the focus on a 12 million dollar clubhouse. It has an indoor and outdoor pool, fitness center, pool tables, plasma television, conference room and work center. Meeting and entertainment facilities are avaiable for homeowners to reserve for private functions. Second is proximity to public transportation. Over the last 25 or 30 years builders have put a new face on subdivisions when compared to the homes of the 50's and 60's. Gone is the "cookie cutter" look - homes may have had a Queen Anne peak or a hip roof, but that was about the extent of variation. Port Potomac in Woodbridge is a perfect example of the new approach. The home exteriors are as varied as the people who live in them. The first home pictured below would fit into Alexandria, VA very comfortably. Obviously, the second home is reminiscent of a Savannah, GA home sitting amidst (8 comments)
